CARBONATE COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS OF USE THEREOF
Compositions comprising calcium carbonate, methods of preparation thereof, and methods of use thereof are discussed. The particulate mineral may be prepared by a precipitation process and/or by a grinding process, for example. The composition may comprise a particulate mineral that comprises calcium carbonate and magnesium, wherein the particulate mineral comprises from about 7% to about 80% magnesium by weight, with respect to the total weight of the particulate mineral. The bulk chemical composition of the particulate mineral may have a magnesium content within 5% of the magnesium content of the surface of the particulate mineral, and/or the particulate mineral may have a steepness value ranging from about 20 to about 80.
Drying process
The present invention refers to a process for making a calcium carbonate containing material, wherein the process includes a specific drying procedure and allows for the provision of calcium carbonate materials with reduced moisture pick-up and low porosity.
Process for manufacture of purified alkaline earth metal carbonate
Process for manufacture of purified alkaline earth metal carbonate The invention concerns a process for the manufacture of a purified alkaline earth metal carbonate, the purified alkaline earth metal carbonate obtainable by said process, and its use in the manufacture of products and devices in the field of electronics and glass. The process comprises the steps of calcinating the alkaline earth metal carbonate with an aqueous phase comprising a salt. The alkaline earth metal carbonate might be barium carbonate or strontium carbonate.
CALCIUM CARBONATE FILLER FOR RESINS, AND RESIN COMPOSITION CONTAINING SAME
Provided is a calcium carbonate filler for resins that has uniform particles, high dispersibility and thermal stability, and, in particular, excellent smoothness, peelability, resistance to detachment, and the like and is useful as an antiblocking material. The calcium carbonate filler for resins includes calcium carbonate particles and satisfies formulae (a) to (e) below: (a) 1.0Sw12.0 (m.sup.2/g); (b) 0.1Dx5.0 (m); (c) 0.1Dy5.0 (m); (d) 0.8Dy/Dx3.5; and (e) 0.1Tw0.8 (% by weight), where Sw is a BET specific surface area (m.sup.2/g); Dx is a primary particle diameter (m) expressed as a calculation formula: Dx=6/(2.7.Math.Sw); Dy is a 50% diameter (m); and Tw is a thermal weight loss (% by weight) between 100 and 300 C.
MATERIAL FOR NEUTRALISING AND/OR HARDENING LIQUIDS, A METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME, AND USES
The invention relates to a material comprising at least 97% by weight alkaline earth metal carbonates having a calcium oxide content of 0.3% by weight or less and a particle size group of 0.1 to 1.8 mm. The invention furthermore relates to a method for the preparation thereof and also the use thereof for deacidification, filtration and/or hardening of liquids.
Systems of producing calcium and magnesium carbonate from the Ca/Mg containing solution leached by a CO.SUB.2.-based hydrometallurgical process
The present invention discloses the systems of producing calcium and magnesium carbonate from the Ca/Mg containing solution leached by a CO.sub.2-based hydrometallurgical process which includes: a precipitation reactor that the Ca/Mg containing leached solution is continuously added and fully mixed with the alkaline reagent at specific mole ratio into the precipitation reactor and the reactor also comprises a CO.sub.2 bubbling module where CO.sub.2 is captured and recirculated from the thermal decomposition process as needed; a solid-liquid separation unit that the treated slurry is treated by the solid-liquid separation unit to produce precipitated calcium and magnesium carbonate products where the recirculating water is recycled back into the precipitation reactor; a thermal decomposition unit that the calcium and magnesium carbonate products is calcined by the thermal decomposition unit to produce an alkaline reagent and the alkaline reagent is recycled back into the precipitation reactor for the next batch of reaction.
SURFACE-REACTED CALCIUM CARBONATE AS EXTRUSION AID
A method is described of using a surface-reacted calcium carbonate as an extrusion aid for the production of a puffed polysaccharide-based material, excluding fibrillated cellulose-containing materials. In embodiments, the surface-reacted calcium carbonate is a reaction product of ground natural calcium carbonate (GNCC) or precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) with carbon dioxide.
Process for treating a sulfurous fluid to form gypsum and magnesium carbonate
A process for treating a sulfurous fluid to form gypsum and magnesium carbonate, whereby the sulfurous fluid is scrubbed with a sequestrating agent to yield a scrubbed fluid, gypsum and magnesium sulfate. The flue gas desulfurized gypsum is isolated from the magnesium sulfate solution by filtration or centrifugation. The magnesium sulfate is reacted with a carbonate salt to produce a magnesium carbonate whereby the reaction conditions are controlled to control the properties of the magnesium carbonate produced.
PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING WHITE PIGMENT CONTAINING PRODUCTS
A process is described for manufacturing white pigment containing products. The white pigment containing products are obtained from at least one white pigment and impurities containing material via froth flotation.
