Production of scandium-containing concentrate and further extraction of high-purity scandium oxide from the same
The invention relates to a method for producing a scandium-containing concentrate from the wastes of alumina production and extracting high-purity scandium oxide from the same. Provided is a method for producing a scandium-containing concentrate from a red mud, wherein the Sc.sub.2O.sub.3 content therein is least of 15 wt. %, the TiO.sub.2 content not more than 3 wt. %, the ZrO.sub.2 content not more than 15 wt. %, and wherein scandium in the concentrate is in form of a mixture of Sc(OH).sub.3 hydroxide with ScOHCO.sub.3.4H.sub.2O. Also provided is a method for producing high-purity scandium oxide, with a purity of approximately 99 wt. %.
Task-specific ionic liquids for selective separation and recovery of rare earth elements
The present disclosure is directed to novel functionalized ionic liquids (ILs) that are used, for example, for enhanced recovery and separation of rare earth elements from aqueous solutions. The liquids and processes disclosed herein lead to greater separation efficiency, increased stability of separation materials, increased selectivity, and a reduced amount of waste materials.

REMOVAL OF EUROPIUM IMPURITIES FROM SAMARIUM-153 IN NITRATE MEDIA USING IONIC LIQUIDS
A process of isolating samarium from a hydrophilic composition comprises nitrate ions, europium and samarium, by reducing europium(III) to europium(II) in this hydrophilic composition, and by extracting the samarium with a water-immiscible organic phase comprising an ionic liquid comprising nitrate anions.
Method And Apparatus For Producing Specific Substances By Extraction And Separation In A Liquid-Liquid System
A new system in which a forward extraction part, a scrubbing part, and a backward extraction part operate together and synchronously to produce specific substances by extraction and separation in a liquid-liquid system. The aqueous phase is circulated independently only in the forward extraction part one or more times, and the organic phase is circulated from the forward extraction part through the scrubbing part and the backward extraction part to the forward extraction part again in synchronization with the liquid circulation of the aqueous phase.

PROCESS FOR SEPARATING SCANDIUM FROM COMPLEX SALT MIXTURES
A method of separating scandium from a feedstock wherein a scandium enriched solution is produced from the feedstock and the scandium enriched solution is extracted to produce an organic phase of the scandium enriched solution. The organic phase of the scandium enriched solution is re-extracted to produce an aqueous phase including scandium chloride. The aqueous phase is precipitated and calcinated to produce scandium oxide powder.
