Application of lactam as solvent in nanomaterial preparation
The present invention disclosed use of lactam as a solvent in the preparation of nanomaterials by precipitation method, sol-gel method or high temperature pyrolysis. These methods are able to recycle lactam solvent, which meet requirements of environmental protection.
COBALT FERRITE PARTICLE PRODUCTION METHOD AND COBALT FERRITE PARTICLES PRODUCED THEREBY
Provided are cobalt ferrite particles having a micrometer-order average particle diameter and similar particle diameters. When a cobalt ferrite precursor is treated at a high temperature and a high pressure, an oxidation reaction is caused in the presence of a complexing agent, thereby obtaining intended cobalt ferrite magnetic particles.

UTILIZING BLACK POWDER FOR ELECTROLYTES FOR FLOW BATTERIES
A method and systems are provided for utilizing black powder to form an electrolyte for a flow battery. In an exemplary method the black powder is heated under an inert atmosphere to form Fe.sub.3O.sub.4. The Fe.sub.3O.sub.4 is dissolved in an acid solution to form an electrolyte solution. A ratio of iron (II) to iron (III) is adjusted by a redox process.

ACID WASH OF RED MUD (BAUXITE RESIDUE)
Bauxite residue recovery includes mixing a solution of hydrochloric acid (HCL) according to a predetermined concentration, and adding the HCL solution to a quantity of raw red mud recovered from industrial operations as waste material. The highly alkaline property of the bauxite residue, commonly known as red mud is at least partially neutralized from the HCL, and makes the resulting washed red mud more amenable to subsequent uses in various applications in fields such as construction, wastewater treatment, and metal recovery processes. The process recovers washed red mud from the red mud and HCL solution by filtering the raw red mud and HCL solution for generating a stream of leach liquor from the filtrate and the recovered washed red mud from the residue.
