A convertible backpack that can be used as an edge protection mat to protect ropes against abrasion and includes a flexible mat or sheet that can be configured into a pack and carried on the back of a user to carry equipment, clothing, or other gear. A pair of rope protection members are affixed to the outer surface of the sheet for carrying the pack and are easily removable for use alone or in combination with the flexible sheet to further protect ropes.

Embodiments of a strap assembly system for a golf bag are described herein. The strap assembly system can be converted between a single-strap configuration or a double-strap configuration. The strap assembly system comprises a first strap, a second strap, and a back puck. The back puck comprises first and second attachment openings for securing the first strap. The back puck further comprises first and second side openings that define a linear pathway and are configured to receive the second strap. The second strap can move freely along the linear pathway.

The convertible hip belt includes a separable fastener that adjustably couples a strap end of the right hip pocket to a strap end of the left hip pocket. In the independent mode, the convertible hip belt is decoupled from the backpack and the right and left hip pockets are instead coupled to each other.

Embodiments of a strap assembly system for a golf bag are described herein. The strap assembly system can be converted between a single-strap configuration or a double-strap configuration. The strap assembly system comprises a first strap, a second strap, and a back puck. The back puck comprises first and second attachment openings for securing the first strap. A binder device including a body having a first cover and a second cover directly or indirectly pivotally coupled together and at least partially defining an inner compartment therebetween. The body further includes a binding mechanism positioned in the inner compartment, a first body securing device coupled to the body, and a second body securing device coupled to the body. The binder device includes a strap including first and second strap segments. The strap is movable between a first configuration wherein the first and second strap segments are releasably coupled together to form a continuous strap that is wearable over a shoulder of a user, and a second configuration wherein the first strap segment is releasably coupled the first body securing device and the second strap segment is releasably coupled to the second body securing device such that the first and second strap segments each at least partially defines a loop. Each loop is shaped and configured to receive an arm of a user therethrough such that the binder device is wearable on a back of the user in the manner of a backpack. Each strap segment is configured to be releasably coupled to only one of the first or second body securing devices.

A convertible hip belt and backpack system for efficient travel include an apparatus with the convertible hip belt. The system includes a backpack having a main compartment and right and left shoulder straps. The system further includes a convertible hip belt having a backpack mode and an independent mode.
