The present invention provides a coating film which has luster of conventional metallic coating films, while being capable of taking on a pale color, and which has a unique design. A coating composition which contains a coating film-forming resin and a pigment, wherein: the pigment contains a scale-like vapor deposition metal pigment; a cured coating film of this coating composition has a sparkle intensity (Si) of 5 or more at the incident angle of 45°, a sparkle area (Sa value) of 10 or more, a graininess value (G value) of from 5 to 10, and a color saturation C* of 5 or less at the incident angle of 45° and at the light reception angle of 45°.
COLORING ULTRAVIOLET PROTECTIVE AGENT
In a coloring ultraviolet protective agent, the average molar absorption coefficient in the wavelength range from 200 nm to 380 nm is increased, and the color characteristics in the visible region are controlled. The coloring ultraviolet protective agent is useful for shielding ultraviolet rays and coloring. The coloring ultraviolet protective agent comprises M2 doped oxide particles in which oxide particles (M1Ox) including at least M1 being a metal element or metalloid element, are doped with at least one M2 selected from metal elements or metalloid elements other than M1, wherein x is an arbitrary positive number, wherein an average molar absorption coefficient in the wavelength range of 200 nm to 380 nm of a dispersion in which the M2 doped oxide particles are dispersed in a dispersion medium, is improved as compared with one of a dispersion in which the oxide particles (M1Ox) are dispersed in a dispersion medium, and wherein a hue or chroma of color characteristics in the visible region of the M2 doped oxide particles is controlled.
Fibrous structured amorphous silica including precipitated calcium carbonate and compositions of matter made therewith
A nano-composite structure. A synthetic nano-composite is described having a first component including a fibrous structured amorphous silica structure, and a second component including a precipitated calcium carbonate structure developed by pressure carbonation. The nano-composite may be useful for fillers in paints and coatings. Also, the nano-composite may be useful in coatings used in the manufacture of paper products.

HIGH CHROMA FLAKES
An article including a reflector having a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface; a first selective light modulator layer external to the first surface of the reflector; a second selective light modulator layer external to the second surface of the reflector; a first absorber layer external to the first selective light modulator layer; and a second absorber layer external to the second selective light modulator layer; wherein each of the first and second selective light modulator layers include a host material is disclosed herein. Methods of making the article are also disclosed.
Golden effect pigments
A golden effect pigment comprising an optionally passivated platelet-shaped metallic substrate and an iron oxide layer, wherein the effect pigment has a hue angle h.sub.15 of 67°≤h.sub.15≤78° and a chroma C*.sub.15 of ≥90 is provided. Further, a golden effect pigment comprising an optionally passivated platelet-shaped metallic substrate and an iron oxide layer, wherein the effect pigment has a hue angle h.sub.15 of 67°≤h.sub.15≤78° and a chroma C*.sub.45 of ≥50 is provided. The golden effect pigments are highly chromatic and suitable for coloring a coating composition such as a paint, a printing ink, an ink, a varnish, plastics, a fiber, a film or a cosmetic preparation, preferably an automotive, an architectural or an industrial coating composition.
METHOD FOR MECHANOCHEMICAL PREPARATION OF HIGH-PERFORMANCE IRON RED/CLAY MINERAL HYBRID PIGMENT
The disclosure relates to a method for mechanochemical preparation of an iron red pigment, which comprise steps: mixing a clay mineral, a soluble iron source and an alkali source in a mill for grinding to obtain a precursor, wherein the ratio of ball to material is controlled at 20-50, the grinding speed is 300-1200 rpm, and the grinding time is 30-360 min; and calcining the precursor at 500-900° C. for 30-120 min to obtain a high-performance iron oxide red/clay mineral hybrid pigment. The iron oxide red/clay mineral hybrid pigment has a bright and beautiful color, high-temperature and acid resistance, and can satisfy requirements for high-performance iron oxide red pigments in fields of paints, inks, ceramics, anti-corrosive coatings, etc. Furthermore the method is a simple process without waste that is environmentally friendly and suitable for industrialized production, thus it is expected to replace existing processes of iron oxide red pigments.
CHROMATIC GLITTER
High chroma glitter pigments combine large particle interference pigments and absorption colorants to bring about a unique look. Unlike traditional glitter pigments, the high chroma glitter pigment does not exploit metallic coatings to achieve the sparkle effect. These high chroma glitter pigments produce optical effects and coloration without the need for incorporating additional pigments which, in turn, is a benefit from both a formulation and cost standpoint. In addition to a sparkle effect, the present invention provides high chroma over both dark and light backgrounds, which has been thus far unrealized in prior art. Materials used in the present invention are ethically sourced, environmentally friendly, free of plastic, free of heavy metals, and regulated for cosmetic applications.
