Biological lagoon systems and methods for industrial wastewater remediation

Provided herein are lagoon systems and methods for industrial wastewater remediation.

System for treating wastewater and the like

A wastewater purification system that uses mechanical and chemical processes to separate contaminants from municipal and other sanitary wastewater, concentrates the resulting sludge for disposal, and purifies the resulting product water for reuse as irrigation water, potable water or for disposal. The wastewater purification system can be scaled from a mobile system mounted on a skid or a tracker trailer to a large municipal wastewater treatment system. The wastewater purification system can include a hydrocyclone feeding a flotation tank. Flocculant is added upstream from the hydrocyclone after air injection by a Venturi air injector or similar device. Coagulant is added before the air injection. A dose of flocculant is added after the hydrocyclone within the vortex of the hydrocyclone and before the wastewater exits near the top of the flotation tank.

Pharmaionizer system

Water contaminated with antibiotics, pharmaceuticals, microorganisms and other organic material stripped of these contaminating products with a specialized gas sparged hydrocyclone apparatus using an ozone containing gas as the stripping gas. The stripping gas contains 50-98 volume percent ozone, and the contaminated water is exposed to UV light prior to introduction into the sparger.

Method for separating mill scale from wastewater

A method for collecting mill scale from a hot rolling mill is provided. The hot rolling mill includes a flume. The method includes transporting mill scale particles in wastewater, retrieving the wastewater from a flume of the hot rolling mill and separating the mill scale particles from the wastewater using a separator. A hot rolling mill and a method for retrofitting a hot rolling mill are also provided.

Apparatus for producing potable water

The invention provides an apparatus for providing potable water, which apparatus comprises a plurality of components linked in series to provide a flow path through the apparatus, wherein the plurality of components comprises: (i) an inlet (4) for a stream of contaminated water requiring purification; (ii) a centrifugal separator (20) for separating the contaminated water stream into a partially purified water stream and a contaminant stream; (iii) a pre-filter pump (26); (iv) a pre-filter pressure sensor (30); (v) a first filter assembly (32) comprising one or more filter modules for removing particles of a predetermined size and/or removing organic contaminants from the partially purified water stream; (vi) a post-filter pressure sensor (38); (vii) a post-filter pump (40); (viii) a second filter assembly comprising one or more reverse osmosis filters (48); (ix) a UV steriliser unit (52); and (x) an outlet (6) for purified potable water; and wherein the apparatus further comprises an electronic controller (14) for controlling and monitoring the operation of the apparatus.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR RECOVERING TIN AND/OR PALLADIUM FROM A COLLOIDAL SUSPENSION
20210300782 · 2021-09-30 · ·

A process for efficiently and economically recovering palladium from a colloidal suspension of tin and palladium involves the use of centrifugation to obtain a sediment enriched in tin and a centrifugate enriched in palladium. An aggregating agent is employed to enhance separation during centrifugation, and ion exchange may be employed to recover palladium from the centrifugate.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TREATING HIGH-SALT HIGH-ORGANIC WASTEWATER AND RECOVERING ENERGY

The disclosure discloses a system for treating high-salt high-organic wastewater and recovering energy, the system includes a cold wall-type reactor (6), a multi-level cyclone separator (16, 19, and 25), a waste liquid feeding system, an oxidant feeding system and a fuel feeding system; The cold wall-type reactor designed by the disclosure is formed by inner and outer double-housing structures, a cooling medium is fed into a gap between the inner housing and the outer housing of the reactor, the fluid on an inner wall surface of the inner housing of the reactor is cooled below a supercritical temperature of the water by using countercurrent heat exchange, blockage of the inorganic salts is effectively prevented. The disclosure is capable of realizing gradient utilization of the reaction heat of the high-salt high-organic wastewater supercritical water oxidation system, and improving a system energy recovery utilization ratio in the greatest degree.

Method and treatment system for treating mineral or oil sands tailings

A method for treating tailings substrate from mining or oil sands separation process, the tailings substrate comprising an aqueous phase with suspended solid particulate material. In the method, a flocculating agent is added to the tailings substrate, flocs are allowed to form and the formed flocs are separated from the aqueous phase. The flocculating agent comprises a degraded polyacrylamide comprising at least anionic units and having a process water viscosity reduced by 25-99%, preferably 50-99%, compared to a substantially similar polyacrylamide that has not been degraded by a degradation agent, measured at a shear rate 1 s.sup.−1 as a 0.4-0.8 weight-% solution of polymer in process water.

REMOVAL OF PHOSPHORUS FROM WATER

Various embodiments disclosed relate to removal of phosphorus from water using magnesium or calcium. A method of removing phosphorus from water including magnesium, calcium, or a combination thereof. The method includes forming a precipitate in the water including the phosphorus and the precipitation composition. The precipitate includes a salt that includes the phosphorus, and also includes magnesium, calcium, or a combination thereof. The method also includes removing the precipitate including the phosphorus from the water including the precipitate, to form water having a lower dissolved phosphorus concentration than the water including phosphorus that was combined with the precipitation composition. The method can include combining the water including phosphorus and a precipitation composition including a magnesium salt, a calcium salt, or a combination thereof.
