A method of treating water in a water treatment system comprises introducing water to be treated into an ion exchange bed of the water treatment system to produce treated water, receiving an output water quality indication from a controller associated with the ion exchange bed, determining, by an algorithm, responsive to the output water quality indication, whether to replace the ion exchange bed based on a remaining capacity of the ion exchange bed, current operational parameters of the water treatment system, and historical data regarding operation of the water treatment system, and responsive to the water quality indication, providing, by the algorithm, a recommendation to a service provider of the water treatment system that there is one of no action required, that the ion exchange bed should be monitored, or that a service order for replacement of the ion exchange bed should be generated.

The system is configured to allow convenient and safe use in a home environment or a critical care environment as well as others affording safety, reliability, and a compact form factor.

Regeneratable system for contaminant removal

A system and method for water purification by capture of contaminants in an aqueous mixture is described herein. A system and method for regenerating the capture system is also described. An integrated capture and regeneration system and method is also described including a separation vessel that houses a capture bed and an electrode in electrical contact with the bed and a power source for applying a voltage to the electrode. The applied voltage enhances capture of the contaminant from aqueous liquid on the capture bed and modulation of the applied voltage enhances release of contaminant on the capture bed into aqueous wash liquid to regenerate the bed. The aqueous wash liquid may contain a counter ion that binds to the contaminant forming an aggregate contaminant phase that separates from the aqueous wash liquid.

Systems, devices, and methods of water filtration

Systems, devices, and methods of filtering water include a dome shaped lid and middle disk to separate filtration media materials. The domed shaped lid eliminates air locks in the filter media that can slow or stop the filtration process. A flow control output port regulates the flow level and flow speed of the filtered water. An angled flow output port improves flow by accelerating flow at an angled bottom section of the filter. Water permeable filter bag materials house the filter media. An additional washing process improves the taste of the filtered water. A color change resin in the mixed bed resin indicates expiration of the filter. Similarly, a filter expiration indicator assists users in determining when a filter should be replaced. An integrated TDS meter is used for testing the filtered water. The devices can be used individually or in combination to provide performance improvements.

Filter assembly with locking cover

Modular pure water systems are provided that have a tank and a cover assembly, wherein the tank and cover assembly are configured to removably receive therebetween one or more expansion tubes in a fluid tight manner to allow for selective volume expansion of the pure water system. Also provided are purification media bags for pure water systems that have a shape, construction, and/or material that mitigates the flow of water between the outer wall of the bag and an inner wall of the pure water systems.

Regeneration of mixed bed resins

In an ion-exchange separation system, a single regeneration column provides for separation of anion and cation resins and the regeneration of both cation and anion resins with a very low level of cross-contamination. After regeneration most of the anion layer in the column is withdrawn, and most of the cation layer is withdrawn, but a portion of each layer adjacent to the interface between the layers remains in the column, to isolate these cross-contaminated portions from the regenerated resins. The withdrawn, regenerated anion and cation resins are placed back into the working vessel.
