METHOD OF IN SITU REMEDIATION OF SOILS USING A BIOREMEDIATION COMPOSITION INCLUDING A TIME RELEASE MATERIAL
20190217354 · 2019-07-18 ·

A method of remediation of soil and groundwater containing hydrocarbons and halogenated compounds. The method includes introducing a remediation composition into the soil that includes: (a) a first bioremediation material including a first blend of organisms capable of degrading the hydrocarbons; (b) a second bioremediation material including a second blend of organisms differing from the first blend of organisms that is chosen for degrading the halogenated compounds; (c) an organic compound such as a complex carbohydrate (e.g., food grade starch); and (d) a third blend of organisms degrading the organic compound. The degrading of the organic compound breaks the complex carbohydrate into smaller molecules that are utilized by the microorganisms of at least one of the first and second bioremediation materials during the degrading of the hydrocarbons and the halogenated compounds. The first bioremediation composition typically includes activated carbon capable of adsorbing the hydrocarbons and the halogenated compounds.

Ecological slope protection with efficient water purification function and ecological improvment method

An ecological slope protection has an efficient water purification function, built in a land-lake ecozone along the bank of a basin, wherein the body of the ecological slope protection extends into the water of the basin, and has a flexible mattress laid on the surface thereof; an ecological filter pool is provided below the flexible mattress and is isolated from the water of the basin by means of the pool body; the ecological filter pool is contained with a filler layer and a support layer, and the filler layer is supported by the support layer; the sewage pretreated via a sedimentation pool is introduced into the ecological filter pool and treated by the filler layer to clean up pollutants therein and reduce its eutrophication level; and the treated sewage is discharged from the ecological slope protection via the support layer and enters the basin.

Biological Wastewater Treatment System

A biological wastewater treatment process utilizes biology carriers having recesses or pores defined on their surfaces. Biology form a biofilm or granular biofilm on the surface of the biology carriers and within. The pores or recesses protect the biology. As dissolved oxygen is consumed by biology close to the openings of the recesses or pores, less dissolved oxygen reaches biology living deeper within the pores. The pores thereby define aerobic, anoxic, and anaerobic regions within each biology carrier. Some examples of the biology carriers may be made at least in part from biochar or other partially charred materials. The resulting biological process requires less physical space than conventional flocculant sludge based processes and is more readily established and maintained verses traditional aerobic granular sludge.

There are provided herein methods and systems for increasing efficiency in a multi-stage activated carbon system. The methods and systems provide a cleaned carbon solids fraction and a waste liquor from wet air regeneration, and direct the same to a second stage and a first stage, respectively, of the multi-stage activated carbon system to enhance removal efficiency therein.

STRUCTURES FOR THE REDUCTION OF WATER IMPURITIES AND METHODS FOR THE DEPLOYMENT THEREOF

Devices are provided herein for the purification of free flowing or semi-free flowing bodies of water by removing impurities, such as nitrates. In one or more implementations, the impurity-removing device includes a cylindrically shaped housing that is open on both ends and defining an inner cavity. A cap is disposed at one opening at one end of the housing, the cap having multiple openings placed through the cap and being sized and shaped to fit the opening at the end of the housing. The impurity-removing device also includes a collection strip on an outer surface of the housing that is colored, sized and shaped to collect heat or energy from the environment, and an impurity-removing medium contained within the inner cavity.

PURE WATER PRODUCTION METHOD AND PURE WATER PRODUCTION APPARATUS

The purpose is to provide a pure water production method and apparatus, which make it possible to prevent the increase in an ion load during a pure water production process, improve the efficiency of a biological treatment and reduce the generation amount of pulverized coal in a method for treating oxidation-treated water in which urea is oxidized and decomposed with a hypohalous acid with biological activated carbon. Provided is a pure water production method including: for adding a hypohalous acid to urea-containing water of interest and performing an oxidation treatment of the urea in an oxidation treatment apparatus; and measuring the concentration of residual chlorine in the oxidation-treated water, then adding hydrogen peroxide to the oxidation-treated water depending on the measured concentration of the residual chlorine, and then performing a biological treatment of the hydrogen peroxide-added water with biological activated carbon in a biological treatment apparatus.
