APPARATUS FOR CAPTURING AND DESTROYING HAIR WITHIN A SHOWER DRAIN
A system for capturing and destroying hair and waste within a shower drain includes a basket placed in the drain which holds a rod including an enzyme blend. The basket captures hair or waste that is washed down shower drains. The enzyme blend neutralizes the hair or waste. The result is a clear drain and clear plumbing, with minimal manual labor. The basket does not require removal because the hair and waste are neutralized before a clog can develop. The enzyme blend is safer for both users and the plumbing systems treated than conventional drain cleaning chemicals.
NANOBIOCATALYST AND NANOBIOCATALYTIC MEMBRANE
A nanobiocatalytic membrane for a filtration system is provided which includes a filtration membrane and a plurality of nanobiocatalyst nanoparticles associated with the membrane, each of the nanobiocatalyst nanoparticles including a core, a coating at least partially surrounding the core, and a plurality of nanobiocatalysts coupled to the coating. Each of the plurality of nanobiocatalysts includes an antibacterial nanoparticle comprising bismuth, and a quorum quenching agent coupled to the antibacterial nanoparticle. A nanobiocatalyst nanoparticle for use with a water purification system is also provided. A method of forming a nanobiocatalytic membrane for a filtration system and a method of using a nanobiocatalytic membrane in a filtration system are also provided.
Processes for remediation of a contaminated material
Methods to remediate a contaminated material are provided. In one embodiment, a biocatalyst that digests hydrocarbon contaminants is activated with a nutrient and the activated biocatalyst is combined with the contaminated material and water to form a mixture. The mixture is incubated for a period of time, and the level of contaminant in the mixture is determined to ascertain whether to incubate further, add additional biocatalyst mix, or provide the remediated material for further processing. In one embodiment, the remediated material is provided for reuse or recycling with a second material, such as a construction aggregate. The method is particularly suited for remediation of drill cuttings, mine tailings, hydrocarbon-contaminated soil, and the like.
Compositions and methods for cleaning contaminated solids and liquids
The present invention relates to compositions and methods for the remediation of contaminated solids and liquids. In particular, embodiments of the present invention relate to the bioremediation of solids and liquids by a composition comprising a biocatalyst or mixture of biocatalysts. The present invention also relates to methods for producing the bioremediation compositions and methods for applying the bioremediation compositions to contaminated sites, including treatment, storage, and disposal facilities, as well as various contaminated water sources, such as aquifers and reservoirs.
System for use with contaminated land and as part of a facility
A system for use with contaminated land comprises: a region defined by or within the land, the region having a plurality of locations defined therewithin; at each location, one or more apparatus selected from the group comprising: sensor, well, electrode, cathode, injector and vent; an array of photovoltaic cells for producing DC power; a ground-mounted frame supporting the array, the frame having a boundary substantially contiguous with the region and supporting the photovoltaic cells; a fluid distribution system of conduits supported by the frame; a power system for delivering DC power to each of the locations; and a communication system adapted to provide for remote control of the apparatus.
Remediation of Food Production and Processing Effluents and Waste Products
The subject invention provides methods for improving the treatment of effluents and waste matter produced during food processing and production. In particular, the subject invention provides methods for remediating fats, oils and greases (FOG), suspended solids, proteins, and other organic matter that are discharged from plants that process, for example, meats, poultry, seafood, dairy and plant-based oils. The methods of the subject invention utilize a customized microbial cocktail comprising facultative anaerobes, in combination with one or more microbial growth by-products, e.g., enzymes and/or biosurfactants, to digest and/or liquefy food processing waste matter.
Water treating agent and kit and methods for producing and using
An object of the invention is to provide a water treatment agent useful for reducing the MLSS and the like in a food factory effluent or the like and for reducing the total nitrogen of a water to be treated including nitrogen-containing compounds, a method for producing the water treatment agent, a method for treating water to be treated using the water treatment agent, and a kit for producing the water treatment agent. The water treatment agent of the invention is a water treatment agent that contains green rust and an enzymatic treatment agent containing a liver extract from a mammal (excluding a human being), a yeast lytic enzyme, lactate dehydrogenase, a glucose dehydrogenase, and water.
Methods and Compositions for In Situ Groundwater Remediation
Groundwater, slurry, or soil treatment or remediation compositions and methods of both production and use are described that include: at least one colloidal remediation chemical, at least one polysaccharide stabilizer, and at least one enzyme.
BIODEGRADATION OF FLUOROCHEMICALS
Media are described herein for the degradation and/or remediation of fluorochemicals. Briefly, a medium comprises an electron donor; a fluorochemical component; an electron acceptor; and a Feammox bacterium and/or one or more enzymes exhibiting reductive dehalogenase activity, the Feammox bacterium and/or enzyme(s) capable of fluorochemical degradation in conjunction with oxidation of electron donor and electron transfer to the electron acceptor. In some embodiments, the fluorochemical component comprises one or more fluorochemicals selected from the group consisting of perfluoroalkyl compounds, polyfluoroalkyl compounds, fluorinated carboxylic acids, fluorinated alcohols, and fluorinated sulfonates. The medium, in some embodiments, comprises water, soil, sludge, sorbents and/or solids contaminated with the fluorochemical component.
