A system for transferring marine life within an aquaculture facility including a plurality of segregated storage facilities each containing water for marine life, maintained within a predetermined temperature range and supported at independent ground levels. The storage facilities are successively disposed and structured to contain marine life at different stages of growth. A transfer assembly includes a path of fluid flow interconnecting successive ones of said plurality of storage facilities in fluid communication with one another, wherein at least a majority of a length of said path of fluid flow is disposed beneath the independent ground levels at a predetermined depth, which is sufficient to facilitate maintenance of the path of fluid flow within the predetermined temperature range, via geothermal cooling.

The transfer assembly may also connect a holding facility, which may be dimensioned and structured to transfer mature marine life, possibly on an on-demand basis, to the harvesting facility.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TREATING CONTAMINATED PARTICULATE MATERIAL
A method of treating and grading contaminated particulate material includes i. physically breaking up the particulate material to separate the particles thereof; ii. rinsing and grading the particulate material to separate the particulate material into an oversize fraction and an undersize fraction; iii. washing and grading the oversize fraction to produce one or more treated aggregate products; iv. passing the undersize fraction through a high shear washing process to separate contaminants therefrom; v. fluidising and cleaning the undersize fraction in a classification tank to produce one or more treated sand products at an underflow thereof by passing clean water upwardly into the classification tank. Optionally, waste water resulting from stages (ii), (iii) and (iv) is treated to form process water, a portion of which is used in stage (ii), a portion of the process water undergoing one or more further treatment processes to produce clean water used in stage (v).

Sludge separation device and method for its use
A device for dewatering sewage sludge and a method for its use is provided. The device affords separation by causing a sludge concentrate to flow at sufficiently slow rates to cause the gel-like concentrate to fracture and release trapped water. Sewage sludge dewatered according to the method and utilizing the device can be directly burned or directly introduced into a landfill. Certain embodiments of the device can be transported to a site where the dewatering process is carried out and certain embodiments of the device can be further utilized to transport dewatered sludge from the dewatering site to a further disposal site.

The invention relates to a device and method for the treatment of sludge with a powder additive, in a co-rotating twin-screw extruder having a length/diameter ratio of less than 20 and comprising a control means allowing the feed flow of powder additive to be adjusted according to the sludge feed flow.
