System and method for treating wastewater and resulting primary and biological sludge
A method of treating primary sludge and activated sludge produced by a wastewater system is disclosed. A portion of the activated sludge is wasted to form biological sludge. The biological sludge is thermally hydrolyzed. The method entails cooling the thermally hydrolyzed biological sludge by mixing primary sludge with the thermally hydrolyzed biological sludge. Thereafter, the combined sludge is directed through a pasteurization process and then to an anaerobic digester which performs anaerobic digestion of the combined sludge.
WASTE WATER SOLIDS SEPARATOR SYSTEM AND METHOD
A closed system and method for efficient separation, drying, pasteurization and disposal of water treatment facility sludge effluent substantially reduces its water content, and thereby its volume and weight. A separator directs influent sludge into hydrocyclones that spin the sludge, separating most of the water into an upper chamber and dropping the solids into a lower chamber surrounded by an oil bath shell which heats and denatures the solids. Forced air through a venturi creates a vacuum in the lower chamber, causing much of the remaining water to vaporize and drawing the solids out onto a conveyor. Another oil bath shell surrounding the conveyor further heats the solids, while heated air forced across the solids further dries them while evacuating the vapor. The resulting dried sludge cake contains as little as ten (10%) percent water, while the closed system deters escape of odors and corrosive vapors.
SALT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR PORTABLE RENEWABLE ENERGY MICROGENERATION SYSTEM
A renewable energy microgeneration apparatus is disclosed that includes a mixing tank that mixes waste with a liquid, a buffer tank that receives and pre-warms the mixed waste, a pasteurization tank that pasteurizes on the pre-warmed mixed waste, a digestion tank that performs anaerobic digestion on the pasteurized waste, a de-watering device that separates liquid digestate and removes salt from the liquid, sensors that measure salinity and biogas quality, and a controller. The controller causes the transfer of digestate from the digestion tank to the pasteurization tank to the dewatering device, causes the de-watering device to separate the liquid and remove the salt from the liquid, monitors the salinity of the liquid and the quality of biogas using the sensors, and causes the mixing of the liquid with the waste and adjusts the feed rate of the waste to reduce the salinity of the waste and increase methane production.
ORGANIC WASTEWATER TREATMENT METHOD AND ORGANIC WASTEWATER TREATMENT DEVICE
An organic wastewater treatment method that includes a raw sludge removal step, a raw sludge concentration step, a biological treatment step, an excess sludge separation step, an excess sludge concentration step, a sludge mixing step, and a methane fermentation treatment step. The treatment method further includes a sterilization step for heating and sterilizing the concentrated excess sludge upstream of the sludge mixing step. At least one among: (1) the temperature to which the concentrated excess sludge is heated during sterilization, (2) the concentration of concentrated raw sludge and/or the concentration of the concentrated excess sludge, and (3) the mixture ratio between the concentrated raw sludge and the concentrated excess sludge is adjusted according to the fluctuation in the amount of raw sludge generated and the amount of the excess sludge generated, and the temperature of the mixed sludge is controlled to a temperature suited for methane fermentation.
Process for treating sewage sludge
An apparatus, method and system is provided for treating sewage sludge by dewatering the sewage sludge, heating the sewage sludge being treated to destroy pathogens, and then reducing volatile solids in the sewage sludge being treated through biochemical decomposition to produce a treated biosolids product that meets government regulations for pathogen reduction and vector attraction reduction.
ENHANCED BIOLOGICAL TREATMENT OF WASTEWATER
The present invention relates to a new and novel process that combines several water treatment processes to biologically treat wastewater. The first treatment process is bioaugmentation using a select mixture of microorganisms grown from wastes collected from a Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) to treat wastewater as it flows through its conveyance system. The second treatment process is employment of a flow control device that increases the holding capacity of the conveyance system to increase time for biological treatment and allow the contained water to be discharged at a controlled reduced and leveled rate. The third treatment process is a high-rate clarification system preferably using flocculating polymers to remove fine suspended solids from the wastewater that can be further treated in a series of containment structures positioned in a stream or riverbed to increase the treatment residence time.
