Crosslinked polyvinyl matrix for water treatment
Cross-linked polyvinyl polymers comprising charged groups and methods of making are disclosed. The polymers are effective and durable adsorbent of dyes from aqueous solutions. Also, a method of removal of dyes from contaminated water is disclosed.
Method of producing modified sawdust sorbent
A method for producing modified sawdust sorbent that includes sulfonating sawdust with sulfuric acid and oxidizing the sulfonated sawdust with hydrogen peroxide. The method yields modified sawdust sorbent containing sulfonated and oxidized cellulose. The modified sawdust sorbent has a higher surface area, higher organic dye adsorption capacity, and more rapid organic dye adsorption rate than unmodified sawdust. A method of using the modified sawdust sorbent for organic dye removal from water includes contacting dye contaminated water with the modified sawdust sorbent and forming a dye-impregnated sorbent and decontaminated water.
Graphene coated glass material and uses thereof
A graphene coated crushed glass particle adsorbent is provided for the removal of heavy metals and other contaminants in from solutions such as wastewaters, contaminated surface water and groundwater. The adsorbent comprises crushed (e.g. recycled) glass coated with graphene nano-sheets using a staged thermal binding process and the silicas in the glass as a catalyst. The adsorbent may be configured for use in both in-situ and ex-situ treatment systems and is capable of removing heavy metals and other inorganic and organic contaminants. The strong adsorptive bond between contaminants and the graphene coating on crushed glass particles can also lead to alternative applications of the end of life adsorbent, such as base material in road and pavement (e.g. cement-like) construction materials.
Solar light antibactertal agent
A composite nanomaterial of ZnO impregnated by, e.g., a green copper phthalocyanine compound (CuPc) can be an efficient solar light photocatalyst for water remediation. The composite may include hollow shell microspheres and hollow nanospheres of CuPc-ZnO. CuPc may function as a templating and/or structure modifying agent, e.g., for forming hollow microspheres and/or nanospheres of ZnO particles. The composite can photocatalyze the degradation of organic pollutants such as crystal violet (CV) and 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid as well as microbes in water under solar light irradiation. The ZnO—CuPc composite can be stable and recyclable under solar irradiation.
BIAS ENHANCED ELECTROLYTIC PHOTOCATALYSIS (BEEP) CLEANING SYSTEM
Methods and systems for the purification of an aqueous solution comprising a photocatalyst employed as an anode and a cathode in communication with an electrolyte to achieve a current flow wherein a charge is applied between the cathode and the photocatalytic excited anode a corresponding increase in electron-hole pairs occurs.
Photodynamic cationic porphyrin composites
A photodynamic composite including a porphyrin having four quaternized nitrogens, wherein the porphyrin is covalently bonded to a polymer containing reactive amines covalently bonded to a solid-state support is claimed. A method for sanitizing contaminated water is claimed including exposing the contaminated water to the photodynamic composite, in the presence of light and oxygen, wherein, a sufficient quantity of singlet oxygen and super oxide anions is provided by the chemical reaction of the light and the photosensitizer to destroy the pollutants or pathogens present in the contaminated water and to oxidize organic contaminants into carbon dioxide and water; thereby rendering the water potable.
CROSSLINKED POLYVINYL POLYMER HYDROGEL
Cross-linked polyvinyl polymers comprising charged groups and methods of making are disclosed. The polymers are effective and durable adsorbent of dyes from aqueous solutions. Also, a method of removal of dyes from contaminated water is disclosed.
ELECTROLYTIC ASSEMBLY AND LAUNDRY TREATMENT APPARATUS
An electrolytic assembly and a laundry treatment apparatus. An electrolytic assembly includes an electrolytic device, a heating member, and a mounting device. The electrolytic device includes an electrode. The electrolytic device and/or heating member is connected to the mounting device. The heating member and the electrode are located on the same side of the mounting device. The electrolytic assembly can produce a hydroxyl radical having a strong oxidization activity by electrolyzing water by means of the electrolytic device to perform disinfection and sterilization, and can further heat a liquid to a required temperature by means of the heating member. The integration of the heating member and the electrolytic device can facilitate the arrangement of the structures of the heating member and the electrolytic device more compact and facilitate overall assembly/disassembly.
Absorbent and method of making and use of the same
An absorbent compound and method of making the same, where the absorbent compound includes an amine oxide that comprises about 30% to about 55% of the absorbent compound and a polymer that comprises about 30% to about 55% of the absorbent compound.
