PROCESS FOR CLEANUP AND RECYCLING OF ROLLING OILS
20230026931 · 2023-01-26 ·

A method for cleanup of circulated rolling oil including gravity separation followed by size separation. The method includes supplying the circulated roiling oil to a separation chamber of a rotating centrifugal rotor and separating water and solid debris from the circulated rolling oil by centrifugal force. Oil, oil-water emulsion, and some residual debris may be recovered and supplied to a ceramic membrane having a pore size of 1.5 micron or smaller. A purified oil sample is recovered from the membrane, along with a reject including the oil-water emulsion and residual debris. The reject may be further concentrated by gravity separation and recycled to the membrane to recover further amounts of oil.

WASTEWATER PROCESSING
20230028512 · 2023-01-26 ·

A wastewater processing method includes introducing wastewater into an upper region of a chamber. The chamber remains at substantially atmospheric pressure. A portion of the wastewater in the chamber is vaporized. Flame is introduced into the chamber and provides for the ignition of a volatile organic compound. The vaporized portion of the wastewater is vented to the atmosphere.

Reactive treatment cell and systems for environmental remediation
11554969 · 2023-01-17 · ·

Reactive treatment cells (RTCs) are described in combination with sediment capping systems as a means for environmental remediation. RTCs include an impermeable housing defining an interior, a permeable ceiling and floor typically including filtration materials such as geotextiles, and at least one interior compartment for treatment reagents. One RTC includes a gabion-like cage structure retaining a geomembrane-supported geosynthetic clay liner (GM-GCL) housing, while a second embodiment includes a hard, cylindrical shell as a replaceable reagent cartridge. RTCs may be employed in initial capping system installations or retrofitted into existing capping systems. RTCs may include optional baffles, flow restrictors, floating discs, sensor probes, and two or more serial reagent zones or compartments.

ENHANCED FLOCCULATION OF INTRACTABLE SLURRIES USING SILICATE IONS

Methods are provided for treating intimately dispersed mixtures of water, bitumen, and fine clay particles, such as oil sands mature fine tailings (MFT). Select methods use dissolved silicate ions and a base (alkali), optionally in combination with a biopolymer, to flocculate a slurry. A mixing regime is disclosed involving the addition to MFT of silicate ions in solution and alkali, to initiate aggregation/destabilization of clay particles. Methods are exemplified that provide distinct sediment layers in conjunction with the release of residual bitumen (for example 40-50% of the initial bitumen content). In these exemplified embodiments, a densely packed bottom layer containing ˜75 wt. % solids showed high yield stress values (3.5-5.5 kPa) and entrapped little residual bitumen (0.2-0.3 wt. %). The methods accordingly segregate a material suitable for reclamation.

Remediation of rag layer and other disposable layers in oil tanks and storage equipment

The subject invention provides microbe-based products, as well as their use to improve oil production and refining efficiency by, for example, remediating the disposable layers in oil tanks and other oil storage units. In preferred embodiments, the microbe-based products comprise biochemical-producing yeast and growth by-products thereof, such as, e.g., biosurfactants. The subject invention can be used to remediate rag layer and/or other dissolved solid layers that form in water-oil emulsions. Furthermore, the subject invention can be used for remediating solid impurities, such as sand, scale, rust and clay, in produced water, flow-back, brine, and/or fracking fluids.

Use of nanoporous carbon membranes for separating aqueous/organic mixtures

The invention relates to the extraction of organic compounds from mixtures of said compounds with water, using a nanoporous carbon membrane. The invention can be used in any field where it is desired to separate an organic compound of interest from water, such as the drying of alcohols or alkanes.

System and method for regulating and absorbing TFT-LCD organic solvent waste liquid in countercurrent

A system and method for regulating and absorbing TFT-LCD organic solvent waste liquid in countercurrent are provided. In the system, each of longitudinal offset pipes of absorbing pipes is disposed between a lower filter plate and an upper filter plate, bottom positions of the longitudinal offset pipes are connected with a sinking-recovery pipe, each longitudinal offset pipe is provided with a photoelectric detector, an activated carbon supply pipe is provided with an activated carbon supply device, the sinking-recovery pipe is connected with a solid-liquid separator, and a wet activated carbon conduction mechanism is provided with a heating-separating device. Activated carbon particles in the absorbing pipe with a certain saturation amount are led out in a non-disassembly-replacement method, the saturated activated carbon is subjected to solid-liquid separating and heating degassing, thus the saturated organic solvent is separated and recovered and the activated carbon particles are recycled.
