SYSTEM AND METHOD OF REDUCING OXIDANTS IN A CHEMICAL STREAM
The presently disclosed subject matter is generally directed to a system and method of reducing, reacting, and/or removing an oxidant or unwanted chemical species from a chemical stream. Particularly, the system and method include the use of one or more reductants that react with the undesired chemical species. The reductant and the chemical stream are added to a reactor and allowed to react for a desired amount of time. The reductant will reduce, react with, and/or remove the chemical species from the stream. The excess reductant and reaction products are then removed from the reactor, as described in more detail herein below.
Process for the treatment of waste water
The invention provides a process for treating waste water from an industrial process for producing propylene oxide, which comprises subjecting the waste water to a catalytic wet oxidation treatment comprising: feeding a stream comprising the waste water to a reactor; subjecting the stream comprising the waste water to an oxidation treatment in the presence of oxygen and a catalyst resulting in a treated stream; sending at least part of the treated stream to a separator wherein the treated stream is separated into a gas stream and a liquid stream; and recycling part of the liquid stream to the reactor.
A PROCESS TO RECYCLE WATER CONDENSATE FROM CO2 OFF GAS STREAM
A method of processing off gas from a chemical plant, where the off gas includes carbon dioxide and water. The processing of the off gas involves separating the off gas into a gas phase and a liquid phase and using one or more ion-exchange resin bed(s) and one or more granular activated carbon bed(s) to separate unwanted organic materials from the liquid phase. Based on this separation, water can be recovered that has less than 10 wt. % of the unwanted organic compounds originally in the liquid phase of the off gas.
SYSTEM FOR RECOVERING SOLID WASTE BRINE FROM PROCESSED WATER UTILIZING A FLUIDIZED BED SPRAY GRANULATOR
Systems and methods of recovering solid waste (solid waste brine) from produced water in an oil sands system for the production of oil and other hydrocarbons utilizing a fluidized bed spray granulator system to provide evaporative drying.
Method and apparatus for treatment of effluents from production plants of epoxy compounds
The invention relates to a process of abatement of the organic content of a depleted brine coming from epoxy compound production involving a vapour stripping step and a mineralisation with hypochlorite in two steps, at distinct pH and temperature conditions.
Method for processing contaminated wastewater from the preparation of isophorone, isophoronenitrile and isophoronediamine
Contaminated wastewater from the preparation of isophorone, isophoronenitrile and isophoronediamine is treated by A) 1. treating the wastewater from the preparation of isophoronenitrile from the reaction of isophorone with hydrogen cyanide by alkaline hydrolysis of isophoronenitrile to isophorone, and the salts of hydrogen cyanide within a pH range of 12.0 to 13.7 and at temperatures of 60 to 200 C. and 2. processing the wastewater from A) 1. by an oxidation, or B) treating the wastewater from the preparation of isophoronenitrile from the reaction of isophorone with hydrogen cyanide by an oxidation, or C) processing the wastewater from A) 1. and the wastewater from the preparation of isophorone and/or the wastewater from the preparation of isophoronediamine by an oxidation.
Process for removal of anion from aqueous solution
The present disclosure is in the field of chemical sciences. The present disclosure relates to a process for removal of anion from aqueous solution. The process involves removal of sulphate ion from aqueous solution using cation and organic solvent that enables precipitation of the sulphate ion from the aqueous solution. The process is simple, efficient, cost-effective, ecofriendly, enables recovery of sulphate ions, calcium ions as calcium sulphate with high purity and also enables the recovery of organic solvent in the range of about 88% to about 99%.
RICE HUSK FILTER MEDIA, AND METHODS
The inventive subject matter disclosed herein includes multiple novel filter media made of activated rice husks, as well as filtration systems and methods for removing contaminants from an aqueous solution, such as wastewater produced as a byproduct of various industrial processes, including mining, oil and gas exploration and extraction, farming, manufacturing, and the like.
Process and system for subcritical oxidation of water-borne organic contaminants
A highly efficient and effective process for destroying organic contaminants in wastewater streams, without the need for supercritical oxidation conditions, is provided.
PROCESS FOR THE TREATMENT OF A PHOSPHITE-CONTAINING WASTE STREAM
Process for the treatment of a phosphite-containing waste stream, said process comprising the following steps: (a) optionally neutralizing the waste stream to a pH in the range 6.0-8.0, (b) adding the following compounds to the waste stream in any order of addition: (i) an oxidizing compound in order to oxidize said phosphite towards phosphate, (ii) an NH.sub.4.sup.+ source, (iii) a Mg.sup.2+ source, thereby forming a precipitate, (c) followed by isolating the precipitate from the waste stream, wherein the process is conducted under atmospheric pressure and at a temperature not exceeding 90 C.
