Water production, filtration and dispensing system
A water production system with a thermal separation device that defines a cold region and a hot region, a fluid-air heat exchanger located remotely from the thermal separation device and exposed to air, and a fluid circulation loop that thermally connects the cold region of the thermal separation device to the fluid-air heat exchanger so as to cool the fluid-air heat exchanger and condense water from ambient air to produce water pure enough so that with further treatment it can be made potable. Also disclosed are filtration and dispensing features that are appropriate for a potable water supply.

The ozone chamber is configured to generate an ozone gas from received air. The device also includes a filtration duct positioned within the portable housing and downstream from the inlet. The filtration duct includes at least one oxidation chamber configured to mix the received water with the ozone gas, and at least one ultraviolet (UV) chamber downstream from the at least one oxidation chamber and including a UV lamp positioned adjacent the water within the filtration duct. The device further includes an outlet positioned on the portable housing and downstream from the filtration duct. The filtration duct is operable to output at least 150 liters per hour of the received water from the outlet as potable water.
Foldable and intrinsically safe plate capacitive sensors for sensing depth of solids in liquids and sensing depth of two different types of liquids in hazardous locations
The present invention comprises a novel foldable and intrinsically safe plate capacitive sensor to measure liquid depths, solids in liquid depths, and two different liquids depths. This invention is used in onsite wastewater management systems (OWTS) to monitor depths of solids, oil, and effluent in a wastewater tank. The plates are configured to allow for solids, liquids and gases to surround the plates. A number of plates are hung in series from near the OWTS tank lid to at least 18 inches below the output baffle to measure the different materials at different depths in the OWTS tank. The capacitive sensors are capable of use with various materials to measure solids, oil, and effluent depths in an OWTS tank.
Hydroponics farming apparatus, and systems including the same
Embodiments of the present invention provide hydroponics farming apparatus, and systems including the same. The farming apparatus comprises a frame, a plurality of functional systems, a first plurality of sensors configured to monitor conditions associated with farming of the one or more plants, and one or more modular storage cabinets removably attached to the frame. The one or more modular storages include electronics that are pre-assembled and configured to communicate with one or more of the first plurality of sensors and the plurality of functional systems. The electronics includes a main controller configured to collect data from the first plurality of sensors.
REWARD TO RISK RATIO MAXIMIZATION IN OPERATIONAL CONTROL PROBLEMS
A computer-implemented method comprising: receiving data associated with an operational control problem; formulating the operation control problem as an optimization problem; recursively generating a sequence of policies of operational control associated with the operational control problem, wherein each subsequent policy in the sequence is constructed by modifying one or more actions at a single state in a preceding policy in the sequence, and wherein the modifying monotonically changes a risk associated with the subsequent policy; constructing, from the sequence of policies, an optimal solution path, wherein each vertex on the optimal solution path represents an optimal solution to the operational control problem; calculating a ratio of reward to risk for each of the vertices on the path; and selecting one of the policies in the sequence to apply to the operational control problem, based, at least in part, on the calculated ratios.
WHOLE HOME WATER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
A valve for a water system including a water supply conduit, the valve having a valve housing that defines a valve inlet and valve outlet. The valve inlet is connected to the water conduit and at least one piston is disposed within the valve housing and is configured to direct flow within the valve. A motor associated with the valve housing is operably attached to the piston and is further configured for driving the piston between a service position, a bypass position, and a shutoff position. The valve further includes at least one sensor associated with the valve inlet or valve outlet for monitoring a water condition. A control system receives data from the at least one sensor and is configured for actuating the motor between the service position, the bypass position, and the shutoff position in response to the data.

A system and a method for water purification are provided. An exemplary system includes a multimedia filter, an ozone generator, an ozone contactor coupled to the ozone generator, and a ceramic membrane filter coupled to an air scouring system, wherein the air scouring system is coupled to the ozone generator. A storage tank is coupled to a purified water line from the ceramic membrane filter, wherein the storage tank is coupled to a backwashing line coupled to the multimedia filter.
ON-DEMAND WATER TREATMENT SYSTEM
A water treatment system centrally communicates and controls one or more water treatment devices to regulate the use of the one or more water treatment devices. The water treatment system is configured to enable a localized, on-demand supply of purified water throughout a building or a network of buildings. The water treatment system may control a degree of purity (e.g., water hardness or concentration of dissolved salts) via mixing of purified and unpurified water streams in a controllable ratio (e.g., via one or more controllable valves or one or more tunable water softening units).
Ocean alkalinity system and method for capturing atmospheric carbon dioxide
An ocean alkalinity enhancement (OAE) system that reduces atmospheric CO.sub.2 and mitigates ocean acidification by electrochemically processing feedstock solution (e.g., seawater or brine) to generate an alkalinity product that is then supplied to the ocean. The OAE system includes a base-generating device and a control circuit disposed within a modular system housing deployed near a salt feedstock. The base-generating device (e.g., a bipolar electrodialysis (BPED) system) generates a base substance that is then used to generate the ocean alkalinity product. The control circuit controls the base-generating device such that the alkalinity product is supplied to the ocean only when (1) sufficient low/zero-carbon electricity is available, (2) it is safe to operate the base-generating device, and (3) supplying the alkalinity product will not endanger sea life. Modified BPED systems include features that facilitate autonomous system operations including enhanced maintenance cycle operations and a reduced reliance on external fresh water sources.
