A sling apparatus that improves user comfort and weapon stabilization and that can be easily converted to and from single-point configuration, two-point configuration, and body armor configuration. The configuration flexibility and ease of conversion allows the user to tailor the sling apparatus to user preferences or environment. In any configuration, the sling improves the user's ability to stabilize the weapon, enhances the comfort of the user, secures the weapon more tightly to the user's body for increased weapon control, and provides an integrated source of paracord that can be utilized in emergency situations.

A holster for receiving and withdrawing a handgun has a proximal wall portion with a handgun retention mechanism thereon. The mechanism having a first lever with a tab portion for actuation and release of a trigger guard, the lever having a snap fit into a lever region without a separate pin. A belt engaging member covers the lever region capturing the first lever therein. If a second retention mechanism is used, another lever with a tab portion is positioned so the tabs are stacked, depressing one also depresses the tab behind it, such that both mechanisms are released. Overmolded polymer layers in the holster body provides a softer interior handgun engagement surfaces. The holster body is split forwardly with a threaded fastener for clamping onto the handgun. No holster body is beneath or rearward of the tab portion, configured as a thumb button, allowing smooth transition to gripping the handgun.

A process for making nanoparticles of biocompatible materials is described, wherein an aqueous reaction mixture comprising cerous ion, ethylenediaminedisuccinic acid, an oxidant, water, and optionally citric acid, is provided along with temperature conditions to directly form within the reaction mixture, a stable dispersion of cerium oxide nanoparticles. Biocompatible nanoparticles comprised of cerium oxide, ethylenediaminedisuccinic acid, and optionally citric acid, are described. An increase in catalase-like enzyme activity is demonstrated by cerium oxide nanoparticles prepared with citric acid and ethylenediaminedisuccinic acid.

A firearm holster includes a plate that is folded to form a cavity. The cavity is defined by a first sidewall, a trigger sidewall adjacent to the first sidewall, a second sidewall adjacent to the trigger sidewall, a barrel sidewall adjacent to both the first and second sidewalls, and a muzzle end wall. A load-carrying fastener with rapid attachment and detachment and safety lock mechanisms is applicable to an attachable holder for a MOLLE accessory and includes a fastener base; a pivotable locking plate pivotally connectable with the fastener base; and a lock-release key flippable to keep the fastener base and pivotable locking plate in an interlocked or released state. Two lateral sides of the fastener base are formed with elastic arms extending outward to form locking arms with locking hooks. The pivotable locking plate is formed with two locking holes allowing the locking arms to be inserted therein and the locking hooks to hook the edges thereof when being closed on the fastener base, so as to enter into a locked state, and be brought with the fastener base into an unlocked state by disengaging the locking hooks from the hole edges when the elastic arms are pressed.
