Cold-form glass lamination to a display
In some embodiments, a process comprises fixing a first portion of a flexible glass substrate into a first fixed shape with a first rigid support structure and attaching a first display to the first portion of the flexible glass substrate or to the first rigid support structure. After fixing the first portion and attaching the first display, and while maintaining the first fixed shape of the first portion of the flexible glass substrate and the attached first display, cold-forming a second portion of the flexible glass substrate to a second fixed shape and fixing the second portion of the flexible glass substrate into the second fixed shape with a second rigid support structure.
Automotive laminated glass, and production method therefor
An automotive laminated glass includes a thermoplastic interlayer film, a curved first glass sheet, and a curved second glass sheet. The thermoplastic interlayer film is disposed between the first and second glass sheets. The first glass sheet is a 0.7- to 3-mm thick non-chemically strengthened glass sheet including a convex-side first main surface and a concave-side second main surface facing the thermoplastic interlayer film. The second glass sheet is an ion-exchanged, 0.3- to 1.5-mm thick chemically strengthened glass sheet including a convex-side third main surface facing the thermoplastic interlayer film and a concave-side fourth main surface. The second glass sheet is thinner than the first glass sheet, and is adjusted to have a curvature equal to the curvature of the first glass sheet. A compressive stress layer on the concave-side fourth main surface is thicker than a compressive stress layer on the convex-side third main surface.
GLASS ARTICLE INCLUDING FLEXIBLE MID-FRAME FOR JOINING A BENT GLASS SHEET TO A RIGID FRAME
Disclosed is a method of forming a glass article. In the method, a mid-frame is adhered to a glass sheet in a flat configuration. The glass sheet has a first major surface and a second major surface opposite to the first major surface. The mid-frame is adhered to the second major surface of the glass sheet. The glass sheet and mid-frame are bent over a forming surface of a chuck so that the glass sheet is in a curved configuration. The forming surface includes a first radius of curvature of 20 mm or more, and the first major surface of the glass sheet conforms to the forming surface. A frame is attached to the mid-frame, and the frame holds the glass sheet in the curved configuration.

Laminating thin strengthened glass to curved molded plastic surface for decorative and display cover application
A process comprises cold-forming a flat glass substrate into a non-planar shape using a die. The cold-formed glass substrate is bonded to a non-planar rigid support structure at a plurality of non-planar points using the die. Bonding methods include injection molding the non-planar rigid support structure, and direct bonding. An article is also provided, comprising a cold-formed glass substrate having opposing major surfaces and a curved shape, the opposing major surfaces comprising a surface stress that differ from one another. The cold-formed glass substrate is attached to a rigid support structure having the curved shape. The cold-formed glass substrate includes an open region not in direct contact with the non-planar rigid support structure, and the open region has a curved shape maintained by the non-planar rigid support structure.

Cold-formed glass article and assembly process thereof
Embodiments of an article comprising a cold-formed glass substrate in a curved shape, a plurality of separate mechanical retainers, and a frame are disclosed. The cold-formed glass substrate has a first major surface, and a second major surface opposing the first major surface. In one more embodiments, the plurality of separate mechanical retainers are attached to the second major surface of the cold-formed glass substrate. The mechanical retainers may be attached to the frame to define a position for each of the plurality of mechanical retainers, such that the mechanical retainers define the curved shape. Embodiments of processes to form such articles are also provided. Such processes can include attaching a plurality of separate mechanical retainers to a flexible glass substrate such that the glass substrate maintains its flexibility, and attaching the mechanical retainers to a frame, such that the mechanical retainers attached to the frame define a cold-formed curved shape for the flexible glass substrate.
