Specifically, phenylalanineamide and tyrosinamide compounds are disclosed that have inhibitory activity toward mycobacterium tuberculosis RNA polymerase. Use of these compounds in the treatment or prevention of M. tuberculosis infections in a mammal, is disclosed.
