Heating conductor arrangement
An electrical heating conductor arrangement for heating a furnace has one or more strip-shaped portions with a generally horizontal sheet-like extent. The strip-shaped portions are formed by individual bands which have along their width an arcuate curvature with respect to a horizontal plane. The individual bands are partially mounted by at least one bearing element pivotably in the longitudinal direction of the respective band.
Glass substrate and method of treating same
An article includes a glass substrate and an insert within the glass substrate, the surface roughness (Ra) of the glass substrate and the insert is about 0.05 m to about 0.2 m.
Detection device and method for detecting something existed in the high temperature cavity
A detection device for detecting something existed in the high temperature cavity, for detecting the glass substrate sending into or outing of the high temperature cavity, wherein, the detection device comprises a deflection probe and a detection element, the deflection probe comprises a fixed probe and the deflection probe in the same line, which is assembled at the side wall of the high temperature cavity, when the glass substrate is sending into the high temperature cavity and touching the deflection probe, the deflection probe will be connected with the detection element, the detection element will send out a electrical sensor signal for showing the glass substrate is push into the cavity. Therefore, it can be determined in time that the glass substrate and the other elements are still existed in the high temperature cavity or not with some simple machines or detection elements, the detecting process is timely and accurately.
Thermal plasma treatment method
Presented is a method for the surface treatment of objects utilizing thermal plasma, including cascade plasma, and a wrap, such as tape or foil, where the tape or foil attracts the specific part of the plasma which produces a heat necessary to produce the desired treatment. The specific surface treatment may include, but is not limited to, hard-facing, brazing, welding, other types of joining operations, glass bending or forming, glass texturing, coating and surface reconditioning.
RADIATION SHIELD FOR SHAPING THIN GLASS
Disclosed herein are systems for shaping a glass structure comprising a shaping mold; a radiation heating source; and a radiation shield, wherein the radiation shield is positioned substantially between the radiation source and the glass structure and wherein the radiation shield comprises an outer wall defining a cavity having a first opening disposed to face the glass structure and a second opening disposed to face the radiation heating source. Also disclosed herein are methods for shaping a glass structure comprising positioning the glass structure on a shaping mold; introducing the shaping mold and glass structure into a furnace comprising a radiation heating source; and heating the glass structure, wherein a radiation shield is positioned substantially between the glass structure and the radiation heating source. Methods and systems employing multiple, e.g., concentric, radiation shields are also disclosed.
LAMINATED AND ION-EXCHANGED STRENGTHENED GLASS LAMINATES
A method of making a glass sheet comprises laminating a high CTE core glass to a low CTE clad glass at high temperatures and allowing the laminate to cool creating compressive stress in the clad glass, and then ion exchanging the laminate to increase the compressive stress in the outer near surface regions of the clad glass. The core glass may include ions that exchange with ion in the clad glass to increase the compressive stress in inner surface regions of the clad glass adjacent to the clad glass/core glass interfaces. The glass laminate may be formed and laminated using a fusion forming and laminating process and fusion formable and ion exchangeable glass compositions.
Method of reforming glass
A method of reforming glass includes placing a glass sheet on a mold having a shaping surface for forming the glass sheet into a shaped glass article. A target starting mold forming temperature and temperature window are selected for the mold. A target starting mold forming temperature and temperature window are also selected for the glass sheet. The glass sheet and mold are simultaneously exposed to a first furnace condition controlled to a furnace temperature set point above the target starting mold forming temperature until a temperature of the mold is within the first temperature window. The glass sheet and mold are simultaneously exposed to a second furnace condition controlled to a furnace temperature set point between the target starting mold forming temperature and first furnace temperature set point until a temperature of the glass sheet is within the second temperature window, after which forming of the glass sheet starts.
Glass articles made from laminated glass tubing and systems and methods for converting laminated glass tubing into the glass articles
Methods for producing glass articles from laminated glass tubing include introducing the glass tubing to a converter. The glass tubing includes a core layer under tensile stress, an outer clad layer under, and an inner clad layer. The methods include forming a feature the glass article at a working end of the laminated glass tubing and separating a glass article from the working end of the laminated glass tubing, which may expose the core layer under tensile stress at the working end of the glass tubing. The method further comprises remediating the exposed portion of the core layer by completely enclosing the core layer in a clad layer. Systems for re-cladding the exposed portion of the core layer as well as glass articles made using the systems and methods are also disclosed.
