GLASS ROLL MANUFACTURING METHOD
A method of manufacturing a glass roll includes separating unnecessary portions from a glass ribbon by cutting the glass ribbon along a longitudinal direction while conveying the glass ribbon. The method also includes passing the glass ribbon, from which the unnecessary portions are separated, through a looseness conveyance region on a conveyance path where the glass ribbon is loosened, and taking up the glass ribbon around a roll core at a downstream end of the conveyance path. A suction conveyor is provided between the looseness conveyance region and the downstream end on the conveyance path. While the glass ribbon is conveyed by the suction conveyor, the glass ribbon is tensioned between the suction conveyor and the downstream end on the conveyance path along with taking up the glass ribbon around the roll core.

METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING A THERMAL TREATMENT PROCESS FOR GLASS SHEETS
The disclosure relates to a method for controlling a glass sheet heating furnace using information describing a glass load including a plurality of glass sheets. The method includes transporting the glass sheets toward a heating furnace, before thermal treatment, photographing the glass load by a camera to obtain a camera image, sending first information of the camera image to a computer, on the basis of which the computer determines a first value of a dimension of the glass load and selects a value of at least one adjustment parameter of the heating furnace on the basis of the first value before the glass load has been transferred into the heating furnace, and reading second information by a line scanner, which is sent to the computer, on the basis of which the computer determines a second value of the dimension of the glass load.

Systems and methods for drawing high aspect ratio metallic glass-based materials
Systems and methods for drawing high aspect ratio metallic glass-based materials are provided. Methods of drawing a high aspect ratio metallic glass-based material are premised on stably drawing high aspect ratio metallic glass-based material from a preform metallic glass-based composition, accounting for the relationships between: the desired formation of an amorphous structure that is substantially homogenous along the majority of the length of the drawn high aspect ratio material; the desired final geometry of the drawn high aspect ratio material; the nature of the force that is used to draw the molten metallic glass-based composition; the velocity at which the high aspect ratio material is drawn; the viscosity profile of the material along its length as it is being drawn; and/or the effect of temperature on the metallic glass-based material. A precise thermal treatment is imposed along the forming length of the drawn material so as to enable a steady state drawing process, the precise thermal treatment being based on: the desire to develop a substantially same amorphous structure along the length of the drawn material; the desired final geometry for the drawn material; the nature of the force used to draw the material; the velocity at which the material is being drawn; and/or the thermal treatment's impact on the viscosity profile of the material along its length as it is being drawn.
