An optical fiber comprises a glass fiber comprising a core and a cladding, a primary resin layer being in contact with the glass fiber and covering the glass fiber, and a secondary resin layer covering the primary resin layer, wherein the secondary resin layer consists of a cured product of a resin composition comprising a base resin containing a urethane (meth)acrylate oligomer, a monomer, and a photopolymerization initiator and hydrophobic inorganic oxide particles, the content of the inorganic oxide particles is 1% by mass or more and 60% by mass or less based on the total amount of the resin composition, and the glass transition temperature of the secondary resin layer is 60° C. or more and 120° C. or less.

Composite Yarn, Manufacturing Process and Textile Surface Comprising Such a Yarn
A composite yarn comprising a continuous multifilament core yarn incorporated in a matrix is characterised in that the matrix comprises at least one polymer material and at least one reinforcing filler, the reinforcing filler being formed from functionalized particles, said particles having a median size (d.sub.v5o) of less than 40 μm. A process for manufacturing such a composite yarn, comprises at least one step of depositing, by coating or extrusion, a matrix comprising a polymer and a reinforcing filler, onto a core yarn. A textile surface comprises at least one such composite yarn.
Ferrite compositions
Ferrite compositions, particularly ferrite coated substrates and more particularly fibre plys coated with ferrites in fibre reinforced polymer composites (FRPC), and composites with a plurality of functionalised fibre layers, include a magnetic ferrite composition for coating a substrate, said composition comprising a resin, and dispersed therein ferrite particulates, wherein said ferrite particulates have an average longest dimension of less than 500 nm. The composition may be used to provide a ferrite composite structure comprising at least one fibre ply, with at least one layer of a magnetic ferrite composition disposed thereon, wherein said ply is substantially encapsulated in a binder matrix to form a fibre reinforced polymer composite.

Resin composite and restoration containing bioactive glass fillers
A glass based fibrous filler having bioactive particles such as hydroxyapatite deposited on a surface of glass fibers. Methods of preparing the fibrous filler are specified. A resin composite containing a polymerizable system reinforced with the fibrous filler, as well as a biomedical restoration based on the cured resin composite are also provided.

METHOD TO PRODUCE MINERAL WOOD BOARDS
This invention relates to a method for manufacturing a mineral wool board, comprising the following steps in the given order: providing mineral wool fibers having a fiber length of 50 to 800 m; gluing the fibers with a liquid binder comprising phenolic resin, whereby the ratio of binder (based on the solids content of the resin of the binder) to mineral wool fibers is 5 to 30% by weight, and pressing the glued fibers using heat and pressure.

A resin composition includes a base resin containing a urethane (meth)acrylate oligomer, a monomer, and a photopolymerization initiator, and surface-modified inorganic oxide particles having an alkyl group having 1 or more and 8 or less carbon atoms or a phenyl group, wherein the content of the surface-modified inorganic oxide particles is 1% by mass or more and 60% by mass or less based on the total amount of the resin composition and the amount of surface modification on the surface-modified inorganic oxide particles is 0.15 mg/m.sup.2 or more.
