Methods for Preparing a Superomniphobic Coating
A method for preparing an optically transparent, superomniphobic coating on a substrate, such as an optical substrate, is disclosed. The method includes providing a glass layer disposed on a substrate, the glass layer having a first side adjacent the substrate and an opposed second side, the glass layer comprising 45-85 wt. % silicon oxide in a first glass phase and 10-40 wt. % boron oxide in a second glass phase, such that a glass layer has a composition in a spinodal decomposition region. The method further includes heating the second side of the glass layer to form a phase-separated portion of the layer, the phase-separated portion comprising an interpenetrating network of silicon oxide domains and boron oxide domains, and removing at least a portion of the boron oxide domains from the phase-separated portion to provide a graded layer disposed on the substrate. The graded layer has a first side disposed adjacent the substrate, the first side comprising 45-85 wt. % silicon oxide and 10-40 wt. % boron oxide, and opposite the first side, a porous second side comprising at least 45 wt. % silicon oxide and no more than 5 wt. % boron oxide.
Superomniphobic thin film
An article including an optically transparent, superomniphobic coating that is durable and relatively easy to keep clean, is disclosed. In one aspect, the present disclosure provides an article comprising a substrate and a graded layer, the graded layer having a first side disposed adjacent the substrate, the first side comprising 45-85 wt. % silicon oxide in a first glass phase and 10-40 wt. % boron oxide in a second glass phase, and opposed the first side, a second side comprising at least 45 wt. % silicon oxide, no more than 5 wt. % boron oxide, and 10-50 wt. % aerogel, the aerogel present in the graded layer as a plurality of distinct domains.
Preparation of universal spin-coatable amine-reactive surface coatings for biomolecule array fabrication
The present disclosure relates to processes for derivatizing a surface of a substrate with a covalently bonded thin film of poly(methylsilsesquioxane)-bonded polymers as a platform for the synthesis of a biomolecule array. These processes can also be used to prepare a surface of a substrate for an in situ solid-phase synthesis of biomolecule array.
GRADIENT GLASS-LIKE CERAMIC STRUCTURES AND BOTTOM-UP FABRICATION METHOD THEREOF
Thin glass-like ceramic films which possess organic or physically functional structures with thicknesses in the 15 to 500 nm range and bottom-up methods for their fabrication are described. SiO.sub.2-rich structures having gradient properties are formed from a silsesquioxane having an electronegative β substituent and at least one organofunctional silane or at least one metal alkoxide.
Antireflective Laminate
Provided is a laminate that includes a water absorbing layer (B), an antireflective function-imparting layer (C) and a hydrophilic layer (A) provided in this order on a substrate, wherein the hydrophilic layer (A) is formed of a crosslinked resin having an anionic, cationic or nonionic hydrophilic group, and has a gradient of hydrophilic groups (intensity of hydrophilic group on surface of the hydrophilic layer (A)/intensity of hydrophilic group at ½ of thickness of the hydrophilic layer (A)) of not less than 1.1; the water absorbing layer (B) is formed of a crosslinked resin having a water absorption rate per unit mass (g) of in the range of 5 to 500 wt %; and the refractive index of a layer forming the layer (C) satisfies a specific condition. The laminate can provide higher antifogging properties and antireflective properties.
Vaporized metal application hood
A hood for depositing vaporized metals on glass container surfaces includes a vaporized metal source that produces vaporized metal; an enclosure, receiving one or more glass containers, comprising at least one side wall and at least one center section having a top above the glass containers; and one or more conduits that fluidly communicate the vaporized metal to an opening in at least one of the top of the center section and the side wall using one or more conduit fans.

A camera module according to one embodiment comprises: a barrel provided with at least one lens; a retainer having an inner space and accommodating the barrel in the inner space; a holder coupled to the lower portion of the retainer; a housing disposed on the lower side of the holder and accommodating a printed circuit board; and a cover part mounted on the retainer and disposed in front of the lens. The cover part comprises: a cover glass; a first reflection suppression layer disposed on the upper side of the cover glass; a heating layer disposed on the lower side of the glass cover; and a second reflection suppression layer disposed on the lower side of the heating layer.
Vehicle windshield and vehicle component using same
Provided are a vehicle windshield equipped with a transparent film at a visual field area, where a negative effect on a driving visibility due to a boundary line between a forming area and a non-forming area of the transparent film is improved, and a vehicle component having the vehicle windshield. The vehicle windshield includes: a window plate; and a transparent film provided at a surface on a vehicle-interior side of the window plate, wherein the vehicle windshield includes a first area where the transparent film is not provided and a second area where the transparent film is provided, at a central area when viewed from a front side, and a boundary between the first area and the second area has no perspective distortion and is constituted by a boundary line having line width visually recognized by scattering of irradiated light of 10 μm to 200 μm.
GLASS CONTAINER FOR PHARMACEUTICAL, MEDICAL OR COSMETIC APPLICATIONS
A glass container includes a hollow body of a glass material. The hollow body surrounds an inner volume and has a lower end and an upper end. A container opening extends through the upper end into the inner volume. The hollow body further includes a container collar surrounding the container opening, a container neck, a container shoulder, a container body, a container bottom closing the lower end, and an inner container surface facing the inner volume and an outer container surface facing away from the inner volume. The glass container is coated on its outer container surface at least partially with a coating and the coated glass container has an increased scratch resistance with respect to a contact of the glass container with at least one further glass container.
LENS WITH AN ANTIFOG COATING AND METHOD OF MAKING SAME
A lens with antifog coating having an improved properties and methods of forming such a coating are disclosed. The lens with an antifog coating may include: a lens composed of a transparent optical material; a hydrophilic layer applied only on a first surface of the lens; and a hydrophobic nanolayer applied on top of the hydrophilic layer, In some embodiments, the hydrophobic nanolayer may be applied only on top of the hydrophilic layer applied on the first surface of the lens.
