Polycarbonate diol coating composition for caustic and UV resistance
A curable glass coating composition including 5-70 wt % aliphatic polycarbonate diol, 5-60 wt % crosslinker, 1-20 wt % extender, 4-20 wt % fatty alcohol, and 2-30 wt % crystalline or amorphous powder filler material, and optionally 2-20 wt % aliphatic polyester polyol and 2-20 wt % cycloaliphatic epoxy. The coating composition can be applied to a glass substrate and cured to form a decorative cured polyurethane coating layer on the substrate that has improved caustic and UV resistance.
GLASS PANES OR LAMINATES HAVING A COATING ON AT LEAST ONE SIDE AND PASTES FOR PRODUCING SUCH A COATING
Coated glass panes having a glass pane and a coating in at least one region of at least one side of the glass pane. The glass pane is composed of glass with SiO.sub.2 and B.sub.2O.sub.3. The coating includes first coating applied in at least one region of the at least one side. The first coating has a binder with SiO.sub.2 and a pigment. The glass pane, in the at least one region, has a flexural strength between at least 5 and at most 170 MPa.
Coatings of non-planar substrates and methods for the production thereof
A coated article is described herein that may comprise a substrate and an optical coating. The substrate may have a major surface comprising a first portion and a second portion. A first direction that is normal to the first portion of the major surface may not be equal to a second direction that is normal to the second portion of the major surface. The optical coating may be disposed on at least the first portion and the second portion of the major surface. The coated article may exhibit at the first portion of the substrate and at the second portion of the substrate hardness of about 8 GPa or greater at an indentation depth of about 50 nm or greater as measured on the anti-reflective surface by a Berkovich Indenter Hardness Test.
Applying protective coatings to optical fibers
Apparatus, systems, and methods that provide coats on a glass optical fiber including of an inner layer and an outer layer. The method includes two steps. First, a conductive polymer coating is applied to the optical fiber as it is being produced. Second, a protective coating is applied to that conductive polymer coating. The conductive polymer coating is applied immediately after the fiber is drawn from preform to fiber.
HARD COATING COMPOSITION, METHOD OF PRODUCING THE HARD COATING COMPOSITION, AND WINDOW INCLUDING HARD COATING LAYER
A hard coating composition includes a silica-silsesquioxane-based resin, a photoinitiator, and a diluting monomer. The diluting monomer includes at least one of a 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate monomer, a tetrahydrofurfuryl acrylic acid monomer, an isobornyl acrylate monomer, a cyclic trimethylolpropane formal acrylate monomer, and an acryloylmorpholine monomer.
Item protected by a rough temporary protective cover
An article includes a glass substrate including two main faces defining two main surfaces separated by edges and a temporary protective layer comprising an organic polymer matrix deposited on at least one portion of a main surface of the glass substrate, wherein the temporary protective layer has a rough surface defined by a surface roughness parameter Sa, corresponding to the arithmetic mean height of the profile of the surface, of greater than 0.2 μm.
COATED GLASS ARTICLES WITH ADHESION PROMOTING REGION
A coated glass article includes a glass article comprising a glass having a surface. The surface has an adhesion promoting region comprising a nanostructure formed at the surface of the glass. The adhesion promoting region is constructed of materials that are the same as one or more constituents of a glass composition of the glass. The coated glass article further includes a coating disposed on the adhesion promoting region formed at the surface of the glass. The coating incudes one or more polymer coating materials. The adhesion promoting region improves adhesion of the coating to the glass while also eliminating the use of titania or other adhesion promoting compounds that can adversely affect the optical properties of the coatings.
Antireflective member and method of manufacture therefor
Provided is an antireflective member that has a water- and oil-repellent layer on a multi-layered antireflective layer and is capable of exhibiting excellent surface lubricity, water- and oil-repellent properties, and durability. The surface of the multi-layered antireflective layer on a base material has a root-mean-square surface roughness of 0.8 nm to 2.0 nm. The water- and oil-repellent layer has a thickness of 1 to 30 nm and is a cured product of water- and oil-repellents having as principal components a fluorooxyalkylene group-containing polymer modified organosilicon compound with the numerical average molecular weight of 4,500 to 10,000 of a fluoropolymer part and/or partial hydrolysis condensate thereof.
RESIN COMPOSITION, OPTICAL FIBER, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING OPTICAL FIBER
