Disclosed herein is a method and an apparatus for producing a shaped article. The method comprises obtaining a freshly produced aluminosilicate-containing particulate waste material and, before the waste material cools to ambient temperature, mixing the waste material into a mixture, wherein the mixture comprises the aluminosilicate, a metal oxide, an alkali, a water soluble silicate and water; shaping the mixture; and curing the shaped mixture, whereby the shaped article is produced.

In a method for obtaining a compacted material, a) a set of particles of raw materials is mixed with 1-50% by weight of a hydraulic binder to form a dry composition, the percentage being relative to the total weight of the dry composition, the particle size distribution of the raw material particles being characterised by a first reference diameter 50 millimetres and a second reference diameter 0.08 micrometres, b) the dry composition is mixed with 1-35% by weight of water to form a mixed composition, the percentage relative to the total weight of the dry composition, c) the mixed composition is vibrated 0.3 millimetres at 20-80 Hertz, while a compressive stress is applied, the value of the applied compressive stress being at least 2 MegaPascal. Also disclosed is a method for obtaining a multilayer compacted material and to the materials obtained according to the methods.

Binders for geopolymers, which include: a) not less than 30 w % of a mixture of at least two chemically different aluminosilicates, b) not less than 20 w % of Ordinary Portland cement, and c) 8-20 w % of a mixture of calcium sulfoaluminate cement or calcium aluminate cement with a source of calcium sulfate, wherein in the mixture the weight ratio of calcium sulfate to calcium sulfoaluminate and/or calcium aluminate is between 0.08-1.5, preferably 0.3-1.1, more preferably 0.6-1.1. Also, geopolymers using such binders as well as their use in various construction methods.

The product comprises a first mineral in particulate form and having a first pozzolanic reactivity and a second mineral in particulate form and having a second pozzolanic reactivity greater than the first reactivity, wherein the surface of at least some of the particles of the first mineral is at least partially covered with particles of the second mineral. A method of making the composition of the present invention is also disclosed.
