A surface cleaning apparatus includes a rotatably mounted brush associated with a dirty air inlet. A plurality of bristles extend outwardly from a radial outer surface of the rotatably mounted brush. At least some of the bristles are encased in a sheath.

Brushbar, cleaner head and method of manufacture of a brushbar

A brushbar including: a body having a channel extending in the longitudinal direction and a retaining feature provided along each side of the channel and spaced away from a bottom, wherein a depth of the channel decreases in the longitudinal direction of the channel; an agitator element that includes a flexible strip and an agitator, wherein the flexible strip is disposed in the channel and extends between each retaining feature and the bottom of the channel such that the retaining features retain the flexible strip in the channel and the agitator extends radially from the channel; and a shim disposed between the flexible strip and the bottom of the channel such that the flexible strip abuts each retaining feature, wherein a thickness profile of the shim decreases in the longitudinal direction by an amount corresponding to the decrease in the depth of the channel.

CLEANER HEAD

A cleaner head for a vacuum cleaner, the cleaner head being configured to apply suction to a horizontal surface to be cleaned by the vacuum cleaner. The cleaner head includes: first and second agitator elements each being mounted for rotation about a respective axis. Each agitator element includes a first, free end and a second end, each agitator element has a shape which tapers towards the first end in a direction along the axis of rotation, the first and second agitator elements are cantilevered from opposing sides of a hub portion of the cleaner head at their respective second ends, and each agitator element is arranged such that when the cleaner head is applying suction to the horizontal surface, the position of the axis at the first end of the element is closer to the surface than the position of the axis at the second end of the element.

VACUUM CLEANER

A vacuum cleaner includes a head unit that suctions foreign substances from a surface to be cleaned together with air. The head unit includes a first suction guide having a first suction chamber therein and a second suction guide disposed on a rear side of the first suction guide and having a second suction chamber therein, and the first suction chamber suctions air through a first degree of vacuum and the second suction chamber suctions air through a second degree of vacuum higher than the first degree of vacuum.

Vacuum cleaner with hair collection element

A vacuum cleaner comprises a base having a suction nozzle adapted to be moved along a surface to be cleaned, and a hair collection assembly carried by the base and having a hair collection element adapted to collect hair from the surface to be cleaned as the base moves along the surface to be cleaned.

Agitator for a surface treatment apparatus and a surface treatment apparatus having the same

A surface cleaning head includes a housing having a front side and back side, a brush roll rotatably mounted to the housing within a suction conduit and having at least a portion proximate the opening of the suction conduit, a leading roller mounted to the housing in front of the brush roll, and a drive mechanism operatively coupled to the brush roll and the leading roller for driving the brush roll and the leading roller at same time. The brush roll includes an agitator body and a first bristle/flap arrangement comprising a first deformable flap extending from the agitator body and a first bristle strip and/or row of tufts extending from the agitator body and disposed adjacent to the first deformable flap. The first deformable flap is disposed at an aggressive angle and the first bristle strip and/or row of tufts is arranged at a passive angle.

A waste collection bag may be used by an autonomous cleaning robot (e.g., an autonomous vacuum) to store waste during a plurality of cleaning processes. The waste collection bag comprises a top portion and a bottom portion. The top portion includes an opening for waste to enter the waste collection bag. The top portion is composed of a porous material to filter air through the porous material. The bottom portion is composed of a non-porous material configured to hold liquid waste and includes an absorbent for interacting with liquid waste to form semi-solid waste.

A vacuum cleaner nozzle having a housing with a downward facing opening, a brush roll rotatably mounted to the housing at the downward facing opening, and a brush roll cleaner mounted to the housing. The brush roll cleaner includes a longitudinal bar extending along a longitudinal axis of the brush and pivotally connected to the housing at a pivot axis, an edge connected the longitudinal bar at a spaced location from the pivot axis and extending along to the longitudinal axis of the brush, and an arm extending from the longitudinal bar. The arm is configured to transmit a force to rotate the brush roll cleaner from a first position in which the edge does not contact the brush roll, to a second position in which the edge contacts the brush roll to remove debris from the brush roll as the brush roll rotates.
