Accelerator powder and quick-setting binder composition
An accelerator powder for cement and also rapid-setting binder compositions which contain the accelerator powder and the use in mortar or concrete. The accelerator powder includes from 10 to 99.7% by weight of a water-insoluble mineral powder P and from 0.3 to 90% by weight of at least one compound V selected from the group consisting of alkali metal halides and alkaline earth metal halides, alkali metal nitrates and alkaline earth metal nitrates, alkali metal nitrites and alkaline earth metal nitrites, alkali metal thiocyanates and alkaline earth metal thiocyanates and hydroxyalkylamines or salts thereof, and mixtures thereof.
Set time control for long column cement slurries
A method cementing a well is provided. The method includes the use of hydraulic cement composition that includes a set time control additive. The set time control additive includes a water soluble calcium salt such as calcium nitrate, a water soluble chloride salt such as sodium chloride, and a hydroxy carboxylic acid.
Process for the manufacture of a fire-resistant and/or fire-retardant cable
The present invention relates to a process for the manufacture of a cable employing the impregnation of a non-woven fibrous material with a liquid geopolymer composition and the addition of at least one precursor composition of a gel to the liquid geopolymer composition.
USE OF GRANITE WASTE POWDER IN LIGHTWEIGHT OILWELL CEMENT SYSTEMS; STRENGTH ANALYSIS
A method for treating a well in a hydrocarbon-producing subterranean production zone. The method for treating well-producing hydrocarbons from a subterranean production zone includes dry mixing a granite waste powder (GWP) in a form of rock aggregates and a cement to form a mixture. Then the mixture is added to the cement composition containing water, pre-hydrated sodium bentonite, calcium chloride, a dispersant, and an alcohol-based defoamer to form a cement slurry. The cement slurry is prepared at a density of from 13.5 pounds per gallon (ppg) to 14.5 ppg and contains the GWP in a range of from 5 wt. % to 20 wt. % of the cement slurry. 10 wt. % to 15 wt. % perlite is added into the cement slurry to form a ternary blend which is cured and then the cured product is injected into the well to seal the well at the subterranean production zone.
METHODS OF CARBONATING CEMENT POWDER
A method of carbonating cement powder and use thereof. An amount of water is supplied to an initial cementitious powder to create a moistened cementitious powder. Carbon dioxide is supplied to the moistened cementitious powder, while mechanically stirring the moistened cementitious powder, to cause a reaction of the carbon dioxide with the moistened cementitious powder to produce a carbonated cementitious material. The carbonated cementitious material is dried and ground to produce a carbonated cementitious powder. The carbonated cementitious powder may be combined with ordinary cement and various ingredients or additives, such as retarders, accelerators and extenders for use in well cementing applications. Methods for cementing casing, liners and remedial operations such as plugging back, and squeeze cementing are also provided. Methods for producing a low alkaline cement suitable for high CO.sub.2 gas wells are also provided. Methods to achieve a stable retarded cement used in higher temperatures are provided.

Low carbon footprint expansive composition and methods of making and using same
Disclosed herein is a composition comprising a cementitious material, a pozzolanic material, aplite, and an aqueous fluid. Also disclosed herein is a method of servicing a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation, comprising: placing the composition into the wellbore; and allowing the composition to form a set cement. The composition can develop suitable mechanical properties and permeability after setting in a wellbore and be expansive.
GYPSUM BOARD FROM GYPSUM HAVING HIGH LEVEL OF CHLORIDE SALT AND A POLYMER LAYER AND METHODS ASSOCIATED THEREWITH
Gypsum boards formed from synthetic gypsum and other gypsum sources having high chloride salt concentrations. Gypsum boards may include a board core including set gypsum between a front cover sheet and a back cover sheet. A total concentration of the chloride anion in the board core ranges from about 150 to 4000 parts by weight (pbw) chloride, typically about 300 to about 3000 pbw, more typically from about 400 to about 2000 pbw, further typically from about 1000 to about 2000 pbw, and further typically from about 600 to about 1000 pbw, per 1,000,000 pbw calcium sulfate dihydrate. A polymer layer contacts an inner surface of the back cover sheet. A densified gypsum layer contacts an inner surface of the front cover sheet. Methods of making the gypsum board, and a wall system for employing the gypsum boards, are also provided.
