Composition for inorganic binders

The invention relates to a composition for inorganic binders, comprising at least one ketone-formaldehyde condensation product on the basis of a cyclic ketone and at least one anionic or nonionic surfactant and/or a thickener, and also to building material mixtures which comprise this composition, and to the use of the composition. The compositions improve the applications properties of the binder formulations.

Disclosed herein are cement compositions and methods of using cement compositions in subterranean formations. An embodiment discloses a method of formulating a cement composition. The method may comprise measuring surface area of a group of pozzolans, wherein the smallest measured surface area of the group of pozzolans and the largest measured surface area of the group of pozzolans vary by about 50% or greater. The method may further comprise selecting one or more pozzolans from the group of pozzolans. The method may further comprise adding components comprising lime and water to the selected one or more pozzolans to form a cement composition.

Modifying agents may be admixed with sodium bentonite clay to lessen the impacts resulting from its contact with an ionic substance. Suitable modifying agents may comprise an anionic substance selected from the group consisting of a diutan, a polymer containing a 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid monomer, any salt thereof, and any combination thereof. Methods for forming a barrier layer may comprise: providing a barrier material comprising sodium bentonite clay and a modifying agent admixed with the sodium bentonite clay, the modifying agent comprising an anionic substance selected from the group consisting of a diutan, a polymer containing a 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid monomer, any salt thereof, and any combination thereof; and forming a barrier layer comprising the barrier material.
