COMPOSITE STATOR WITH INTEGRAL PLATFORMS FOR GAS TURBINE ENGINES
A composite fiber stator ring for a gas turbine engine compressor includes a plurality of composite fiber vane structures. Each of the composite fiber vane structures includes a plurality of fiber plies. All of the fiber plies flow in a single direction at each joint of the corresponding composite fiber vane structure. The plurality of composite fiber vane structures are arranged circumferentially in a ring.
Cement and skinning material based on a water-swellable clay, and method for producing segmented or skinned ceramic honeycomb structures
Skins and/or adhesive layers are formed on a porous ceramic honeycomb by applying a layer of a cement composition to a surface of the honeycomb and firing the cement composition. The cement composition contains a water-swellable clay, high aspect inorganic filler particles and water, and are nearly or completely devoid of particles smaller than 100 nm and a cellulosic polymer.
Vitreous or at least partly crystallised sealing material, joint connection, barrier layer, and layer system comprising the sealing material and integration thereof into components
Vitreous or at least partly crystallized sealing material is provided. The sealing material is from the system SiO.sub.2B.sub.2O.sub.3CaOMgO, which is free from BaO and/or SrO and which has an improved coefficient of thermal expansion and improved crystallization properties. The sealing material is employed to produce joint connections, electrical feedthroughs, and/or as a barrier layer.
Perforated ceramic matrix composite ply, ceramic matrix composite article, and method for forming ceramic matrix composite article
A ceramic matrix composite article, method for forming the article, and perforated ply which may be incorporated therein are disclosed. The article includes at least one shell ply forming an exterior wall having first and second portions and defining a plenum. An annular brace formed of at least one structural support ply is disposed within the plenum, including a first integral portion integral with and part of the first portion of the exterior wall, a first curved portion extending from the first integral portion and curving across the article plenum to the second portion of the exterior wall, a second integral portion integral with and part of the second portion of the exterior wall, a second curved portion extending from the second integral portion and curving across the article plenum to the first curved portion, and an overlap in which the first and second curved portions are integral.
MANUFACTURING METHOD OF HONEYCOMB STRUCTURE
A manufacturing method of a honeycomb structure including: a formed body forming step of extruding a forming raw material, to form a plurality of quadrangular prismatic columnar honeycomb formed bodies; a firing step of firing the honeycomb formed bodies, to form a plurality of quadrangular prismatic-columnar quadrangular segments; a triangular segment forming step to form a triangular prismatic-columnar triangular segment; a bonded body forming step to form a honeycomb bonded body; and a circumference grinding step to manufacture the honeycomb structure, wherein the bonded body forming step further includes: a pressurizing step of pressurizing the triangular segment from a circumferential direction of the temporary assembly toward a central direction thereof, by use of a pressurizing jig comprising a pressurizer.
METHOD FOR REPAIRING CERAMIC MATRIX COMPOSITE AND CERAMIC MATRIX COMPOSITE MEMBER
A method for repairing a target member including a ceramic matrix composite reinforced by ceramic fiber includes: a removal step of removing at least a part of a surface of the target member; an arrangement step of arranging a green body for repair which includes the ceramic fiber on a portion where the surface is removed in the removal step; an impregnation step of impregnating at least the portion of the target member where the green body for repair is disposed with slurry; and a sintering step of sintering the target member on which the green body for repair is disposed, after the impregnation step.
Method for producing a ceramic fixed partial denture
A method for making ceramic fixed partial dentures comprising separating the as-sintered partial denture structure, rejoining the retainers and pontic with glass, which forms a strong joint between the retainers and pontic after sintering. This method may produce ceramic long-span fixed partial dentures with a better fit.
APPARATUS INCLUDING A CERAMIC COMPONENT, A METAL COMPONENT, AND A GLASS SEALING MATERIAL AND A PROCESS OF FORMING THE APPARATUS
An apparatus can include a ceramic component, a metal component, and a glass sealing material that bonds the ceramic and metal components to each other. In an embodiment, the coefficients of thermal expansion of the components and glass sealing material can be within 4 ppm/ C. of one another. The metal component may be relatively oxidation resistant. The glass sealing material may have a relatively low amount of an amorphous phase as compared to one or more crystalline phases within the glass sealing material. The apparatuses can exhibit good bond strength even after long term exposure to high temperature, thermal cycling to a high temperature, or both. In an embodiment, the metal component may allow another metal component of a different composition to be used without a significant impact on the integrity of the bonded apparatus.
Joined body and method for producing the same
A joined body 20 includes a porous ceramic 22 made of porous ceramic, a metal member 24 made of a metal, and a joint 30 formed of an oxide ceramic that penetrates into pores 23 of the porous ceramic 22 and joins the porous ceramic 22 to the metal member 24. The penetration depth of the oxide ceramic into the pores of the porous ceramic is preferably 10 m or more, and more preferably 15 to 50 m. The joined body 20 may be produced through a joining step of forming a joint by placing a metal raw material between a porous ceramic and a metal member and firing the metal raw material in the air at a temperature in the range of 400 C. to 900 C., where an oxide ceramic produced by oxidation of the metal raw material penetrates into the pores of the porous ceramic in the joint.
EXTENDED LENGTH TUBE STRUCTURES
An extended length tube structure includes a first ceramic tube segment having a first end and a second end, and a second ceramic tube segment having a first end and a second end, in which the second end of the first ceramic tube segment is arranged to face the first end of the second ceramic tube segment. A ceramic coupling component is positioned to circumscribe the end-to-end configuration of the tube segments, and is sinter-bonded to the tube segments to form a continuous, extended length tube structure having a seal, such as a sinter bond or an interference bond, that is free of bond materials.
