A plugged honeycomb structure includes a honeycomb structure body of a segment structure and plugging portions disposed in open ends of cells formed in the honeycomb structure body, the honeycomb structure body has outer segments and inner segments disposed on an inner side than the outer segments in a cross section of the honeycomb structure body, and a material constituting the outer segments has a smaller heat capacity per unit volume than a material constituting the inner segments.

A monolithic honeycomb element includes a collection of adjacent ducts of mutually parallel axes separated by walls made of a porous material, the element having, in transverse cross section, a polygonal, notably quadratic cross section delimited by exterior wall elements, wherein at least one corner of the polygon, has, along the bisector of the angle at the corner, an additional thickness, such that the total thickness of the external wall, likewise measured along the bisector of the angle at the corner, is greater than the mean thickness of the exterior walls by a factor of at least 1.43, the additional thickness being obtained at least in part by an additional quantity of porous material on the external face of the corner.

Monolithic ceramic body and assembly

A monolithic ceramic body can comprise a first portion comprising a plurality of pores defining an interconnected network of pores, and a second portion integrally formed with the first portion and defining at least a portion of a perimeter surface of the monolithic ceramic body, wherein the second portion can include at least one complementary engagement structure. In another embodiment, a porous ceramic assembly can comprise at least two of the monolithic ceramic bodies which are coupled to each other by a first complementary engagement structure and a second complementary engagement structure.

In another embodiment, a porous ceramic assembly can comprise at least two of the monolithic ceramic bodies which are coupled to each other by a first complementary engagement structure and a second complementary engagement structure.
