CARBON DIOXIDE SEQUESTERED CEMENT FOR WELL CEMENTING

A method of making a cement composite can include contacting an aqueous solution comprising calcium ions with a carbon dioxide source producing a carbonated aqueous solution. Fine particles can be submerged in the carbonated aqueous solution to produce microaggregate particles comprising the fine particles coated with calcium carbonate. The microaggregate particles can be combined with cement particles to produce the cement composite. The cement composite can be used in cementing applications for hydrocarbon wells including for casing liners and well plugs.

METHOD OF CONVERSION OF A DRILLING MUD TO A GEL-BASED LOST CIRCULATION MATERIAL TO COMBAT LOST CIRCULATION DURING CONTINUOUS DRILLING

A method of conversion of a water-based mud to a gel-based LCM quickly to control lost circulation in a lost circulation zone in a wellbore during continuous drilling with a drilling mud, the drilling mud comprises a volcanic ash, water, a de-foamer, a pH buffer, and a polymer. The method comprises the steps of entering the lost circulation zone, determining a lost circulation volumetric flow rate, metering a first amount of a binder into the drilling mud to create a binder containing mud, pumping the binder containing drilling mud into the wellbore, and suspending metering of the first amount of the binder to the drilling mud after a pre-defined regulating period of time effective to permit the binder containing drilling mud to create a gel-based LCM operable to alter the lost circulation zone.

The current invention relates to the use of chitin nanocrystals and chitin nanocrystal derivatives. More specifically, the present invention relates to the use of chitin nanocrystals and chitin nanocrystals used in oil and gas operations. The chitin nanocrystals and chitin nanocrystals derivatives can be used as additives to cement and wellbore fluids and can be used to inhibit corrosion in pipelines, on downhole tools and on other oil and gas related equipment.

Use of graphene as a cement retarder

A cement slurry includes a set retarder comprising graphene, a cementitious material, and water; the graphene comprises bioderived renewable graphene (BRG). The cement slurry has from about 0.01 to about 20, from about 0.1 to about 15, or from about 0.5 to about 5 percent graphene by weight of cementitious material (% graphene bwoc). The cement slurry has an increased thickening time relative to a same cement slurry absent the graphene.
