Building materials comprising carbon-dioxide-treated agglomerated particles
Roofing granules comprising agglomerated inorganic material treated with carbon dioxide gas, and building materials, such as shingles, that include such roofing granules. By fabricating roofing granules from agglomerating inorganic material it is possible to tailor the particle size distribution so as to provide optimal shingle surface coverage, thus reducing shingle weight and usage of raw materials. Additionally, the use of agglomeration permits the utilization of by-products from conventional granule production processes.
CONSTRUCTION CHEMICAL FORMULATION
The present invention relates to a construction chemical formulation which cures rapidly and with low stress and which comprises calcium sulfate, an ettringite former, an activator, an aggregate and a polymeric binder, and also to the use of the construction chemical formulation for producing sealants, coatings, adhesives, screeds, or leveling compositions.
GRANULES
A plurality of granules comprising ceramic particles bound together with an inorganic binder, the inorganic binder comprising reaction product of at least alkali silicate and hardener, wherein the ceramic particles are present as at least 50 percent by weight of each granule, based on the total weight of the respective granule, wherein each granule has a total porosity in a range from greater than 0 to 50 percent by volume, based on the total volume of the respective granule, and wherein the granule has a minimum Total Solar Reflectance of at least 0.7. The granules are useful, for example, as roofing granules.
ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE INSULATING CONSTRUCTION BLOCKS AND STRUCTURES
Environmentally responsible insulating construction blocks and structures constructed primarily of recycled materials are disclosed. The environmentally friendly construction blocks and structures comprise shredded rubber tire pieces coated with silica fume, slag cement and cement, which are then mixed with water and formed in a mold. A layer of grout or a fireproof material may be disposed on one side of the environmentally responsible insulating construction block. The environmentally responsible insulating construction blocks provide high insulation as well as strength for applications such as green roofing, wall construction and green roofing decks. Environmentally friendly structures can be built by pouring the coated shredded rubber tire pieces into molds to form walls, and then to pour a layer of the coated shredded rubber tire pieces as a roof deck, thereby creating a self-supporting structure in a monolithic pour.
GRANULES
A plurality of granules comprising particulate silicate material bonded together with an inorganic binder, the inorganic binder comprising reaction product of at least alkali silicate and hardener, wherein the hardener is at least one of aluminum phosphate, amorphous aluminosilicate, fluorosilicate, Portland cement, or a calcium silicate, wherein the particulate silicate material is present as at least 50 percent by weight of each granule, based on the total weight of the respective granule, wherein each granule has a total porosity in a range from greater than 0 to 50 percent by volume, based on the total volume of the respective granule, and wherein the granules have Tumble Toughness Value of at least 70 before immersion in water and at least 40 after immersion in water at 20 C.2 C. for two months. The granules are useful, for example, as roofing granules.
Roof coating system
The invention relates to a roof coating comprising a bitumen layer with embedded particles.
Roofing granules with high solar reflectance, roofing products with high solar reflectance, and processes for producing same
Solar reflective roofing granules include a binder and inert mineral particles, with solar reflective particles dispersed in the binder. An agglomeration process preferentially disposes the solar reflective particles at a desired depth within or beneath the surface of the granules.
Ceramic matrix compositions and uses thereof
The present specification discloses ceramic matrix compositions, methods of making such ceramic matrix compositions and methods and uses for such ceramic matrix compositions.
THERMALLY INSULATIVE COMPOSITIONS FOR A ROOF COATING
Compositions of matter for use as a roof coating are provided. The roof coating can be applied to any suitable roof of any building. When applied to a roof, the roof coating insulates the building's interior from some of the sun's thermal energy, which would otherwise radiate into the building and raise the interior temperature. The roof coating can therefore reduce energy consumption involved in cooling the building's interior. The roof coating demonstrates advantageous thermal insulation properties (e.g., low thermal conductivity) over a wide range of temperatures and when applied with minimal thickness. The provided roof coating demonstrates high reflectance, high emissivity, low thermal conductivity, low flame spread, high solar reflectance index (SRI) in the range of 100 to 120, and acts as a sealer and waterproofer, which all contribute to its desirable properties for use as a thermally insulating roof coating.
MINERAL FIBER ROOF COVER BOARDS
Composite roofing structures can include mineral fiber roof cover boards with high concentration of mineral wool or mineral wool and perlite. The roofing structure may include: a roof cover board including a dried base mat including: 8-25% mineral wool, 40-65% perlite, 9-15% binder, 9-15% cellulosic fiber, and 0.25-2% sizing agent, all % by weight; an insulation layer; and a roofing membrane. The roof cover board is over the insulation layer, the roofing membrane is over the roof cover board. The roof cover board is attached to the insulation layer. The roofing membrane is attached to the roof cover board. Alternatively dried base mat may include: 30-70% mineral wool, 10-50% perlite, 5-15% binder, 2-20% cellulosic fiber, and 0.25-2% sizing agent. Alternatively the dried base mat may include: 60-90% mineral wool, 0-10% fiber, 0-10% perlite, 4-10% binder, 0-5% gypsum, and 0.25-2% sizing agent.
