Provided is a ceiling tile coated on at least one surface with an acoustically transparent coating which creates pores at the tile surface and comprises a high Tg polymeric binder, titanium dioxide, and particles selected from the group consisting of void latex particles, hollow glass beads, calcium carbonate, calcium magnesium carbonate, calcined clay and any combination thereof. Compositions for acoustically transparent coatings and methods for making a substrate surface acoustically transparent are provided as well.

Method for production of acoustical panels

A method of decreasing the water load needed to form a fibrous panel. The process includes admixing a mineral wool, a cellulose, and a binder to provide a pre-mixed slurry, admixing a mineral filler with water to provide a mineral filler slurry, admixing the pre-mixed slurry and the mineral filler slurry to form a dispersion, flowing the dispersion onto a foraminous support wire to provide a green board, dewatering the green board to form a dewatered green board and drying the dewatered green board to provide a fibrous panel.

COLLOIDAL VESICLES FOR USE AS DEDUSTING AGENTS IN CONSTRUCTION PANELS

Ceiling tiles and wallboards can be produced with vesicle dedusting agent. For example, a ceiling tile can comprise: a dried base mat that includes: (a) mineral wool; (b) binder; (c) a vesicle dedusting agent at about 0.01 to about 10 wt %, wherein the vesicle dedusting agent comprises vesicles; (d) optionally cellulosic fiber; (e) optionally perlite; (f) optionally glass fiber; and (g) optionally calcium sulfate dihydrate. For example, a wallboard produced from a slurry comprising: (a) calcium sulfate hemihydrate at 70 to 95 wt %; (b) a vesicle dedusting agent at about 0.01 to about 10 wt %, wherein the vesicle dedusting agent comprises vesicles; (c) optionally cellulose fibers at about 0.5 to about 3 wt %; (d) optionally at least one dispersant at about 0.01 to about 2 wt %; and (e) water at a ratio of water to dry components of about 1:6 to about 20:1.

Gypsum boards

A gypsum board according to the invention comprises calcium sulphate dihydrate; Tartaric acid in an amount in the range of 0.01 to 0.1% w based on the weight of calcium sulphate hemihydrate; A fluidizer in an amount of 1.0 to 10.0 kg/m.sup.3; Starch in an amount of 3.0 to 12.0 kg/m.sup.3.

Reinforced building block made of autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC)

The present invention is directed to a reinforced building block made of autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) comprising rebars formed essentially from A) at least one fibrous carrier and B) and a hardened composition formed from B1) at least one epoxy compound and B2) at least one diamine and/or polyamine in a stoichiometric ratio of the epoxy compound B1) to the diamine and/or polyamine component B2) of 0.8:1 to 2:1, as matrix material, and C) optionally further auxiliaries and additives and to methods of production thereof.

COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR PROVIDING INCREASED STRENGTH IN CEILING, FLOORING, AND BUILDING PRODUCTS

A composition for addition to a ceiling tile, flooring product, or other construction product may include microfibrillated cellulose and optionally an inorganic particulate material. The ceiling tile, flooring product, or other construction product may further include perlite, mineral wool, wood pulp, starch and other additives, where the wood pulp and other inorganic particulate materials are bonded to the microfibrillated cellulose. Methods of manufacturing the compound are also disclosed.

Acoustical tile including a dried base mat of: about 70 to about 90 wt % mineral wool; about 5 to about 15 wt % perlite; 0 to about 10 wt % starch; about 3 to about 10 wt % latex; 0 to about 5 wt % gypsum; and less than 5 wt % water. The dried base mat without including glass fibers and without a laminate layer or coating and without perforations has a NRC of about 0.70 or greater, a density of about 10 pcf to about 12 pcf, and a thickness of about to about 1 inch. The acoustical tile can further include a back coating at a surface weight of about 5 grams per square foot (gsf) to about 40 gsf to the dried base mat, wherein the acoustical tile has the CAC rating of about 30 to about 35.

SBS latex for use in the modification of concrete

The invention relates to compositions of cement and concrete having properties of resistance, modulus and expansion which are significantly improved, using an additive for cement based on thermoplastic styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) copolymer in cationic latex, when compared with non-modified cement and concrete references.
