Plastic coated composite building boards and method of making same

Disclosed are composite building boards and associated manufacturing methods. The composite boards may include, for example, one or more slurry layers with embedded fibrous mats. An exterior plastic coating is mechanically adhered to the underlying slurry layer. The plastic layer chemically bonds and cross-links with polymer additives within the slurry layer. The result is an integrated polymer matrix with greatly improved durability and surface strength.

Separators for electrochemical cells

Provided are separators for use in an electrochemical cell comprising (a) an inorganic oxide and (b) an organic polymer, wherein the inorganic oxide comprises organic substituents. Also provided are electrochemical cells comprising such separators.

Gypsum panels, systems, and methods

Gypsum panels, sheathing systems, and methods of making and using the same are provided. A gypsum panel includes a gypsum core associated with a first fiberglass mat having a continuous barrier coating, the coating penetrating a portion of the first fiberglass mat opposite the gypsum core, wherein gypsum penetrates a remaining fibrous portion of the first fiberglass mat such that voids in the first fiberglass mat are substantially eliminated. A building sheathing system includes at least two gypsum panels and a seaming component to provide a seam at an interface between the gypsum panels.

Fiber cement flooring products and methods for the production thereof

The present invention relates to fiber cement flooring products. In particular, the present invention provides fiber cement flooring products, at least comprising cement and fibers, characterized in that these fiber cement flooring products comprise amorphous silica in an amount of between about 2 weight % and about 15 weight % compared to the total dry weight of the fiber cement composition of said fiber cement flooring product. The present invention further relates to methods for the production of such fiber cement flooring products as well as uses of such fiber cement flooring products in the building industry. The present invention further relates to fiber cement formulations and fiber cement materials, which are suitable for the production of fiber cement products for flooring applications.

Porous ceramic laminate and method for producing the same

A porous ceramic laminate, which can reduce pressure loss of a fluid, includes a first porous layer and a second porous layer. The second porous layer is laminated on, in contact with or via air, the first porous layer. A part of the second porous layer is laminated on, in contact with, the first porous layer. Each of the first porous layer and the second porous layer contains a metal oxide. A ratio Da/Db of an average pore diameter Da of the first porous layer relative to an average pore diameter Db of the second porous layer is 10 or more. A proportion of a portion in which a distance between the first porous layer and the second porous layer is smaller than 1 m is 70% or less.

Heat-insulating and flame-retardant nano-composite sheet and preparation method thereof

A heat-insulating and flame-retardant nano-composite sheet and a preparation method thereof are provided. The preparation method includes the following steps: S1: adding aerogel slurry, a flame retardant, an opacifying agent, fumed silica, high-silica glass fiber, and an additive A into a stirring tank; and stirring until uniformly mixed to acquire pasty composite slurry; S2: filling a glue tray of a roller coating device with the composite slurry acquired in step S1; and scrape-coating surfaces of a plurality of layers of a base material with the composite slurry by using discharging assemblies of the roller coating device; S3: drawing and collecting the plurality of layers of the base material acquired in step S2 at a compounding position; and pressurizing to acquire a semi-finished product; and S4: drawing the semi-finished product acquired in step S3 onto a coating line; and carrying out high-temperature drying to acquire the heat-insulating and flame-retardant nano-composite sheet.

Disclosed is a draining composition for a light-traffic road pavement, including: (a) a first granular layer having a percentage of communicating voids ranging 25-50%, including a binder and a granular mixture of which at least 80% by weight, relative to the total weight of the granular mixture, has a granular size distribution range 4-20 mm, the layer having a thickness suitable for the pavement's mechanical strength; (b) a second granular layer having main lower and upper surfaces, the main lower surface resting directly on the first granular matrix and the main upper surface in direct contact with the air, the second granular layer being a granular mixture not bound by a binder and of which at least 80% by weight, relative to the total weight of the granular mixture, has a granular size distribution range 2-14 mm, the second granular layer having a thickness appropriate for water accumulation.

Foam modifiers for gypsum slurries, methods, and products

Disclosed is a foam modifier, e.g., useful for gypsum or cement slurries. The foam modifier comprises a fatty alcohol that is added to a gypsum or cement slurry that includes foaming agent, such as an alkyl sulfate surfactant. The fatty alcohol can be a C.sub.6-C.sub.16 fatty alcohol in some embodiments. The use of such a foam modifier can be used, for example, to stabilize the foam, reduce waste of foaming agent, improve void size control in the final product, and improve the gypsum board manufacturing process.

Sterol additive in asphalt pavement
