A curable binder composition includes: a) at least one organic binder selected from the group made of a1) epoxy resins and curing agents for epoxy resins and a2) polyisocyanates and polyols, and b) at least 50% by weight of slag based on 100% by weight of the binder composition.
Use of a Hydraulic Binder Containing Calcium Aluminate for the Production of a Construction Material
The invention relates to the use of a hydraulic binder containing calcium aluminate, obtainable by a method in which a) prepared amorphous residual material rich in aluminium oxide and/or aluminium hydroxide is heated after the addition of a b) calcium ion-containing binder component and c) water, for the production of a constructing material.
A Method and Apparatus for Processing Water Treatment Residuals
A method for processing water treatment residuals, or other amorphous aluminium oxide or aluminium hydroxide rich waste residuals, for use in the manufacture of hydraulic binders, comprising heating the residuals to remove water and oxidise organic material contained therein, comprising controlling the temperature of the residuals during heating such that they are heated to a temperature no higher than 800° C., more preferably no higher than 650° C., to ensure that aluminium compounds in the WTR, in particular aluminium oxide and aluminium hydroxide, remain in an amorphous state. The method may comprise controlling the temperature of the water treatment residuals such that they are heated to a temperature between 350° C. and 650° C., more preferably between 400° C. and 500° C.
Ground granulated blast furnace slag based binder, dry and wet formulations made therefrom and their preparation methods
A slag-based binder has at least one slag, optionally at least one CO.sub.3-containing mineral powder, optionally at least one co-binder different from the slag and mineral powder, at least one activator of the water/slag reaction, optionally at least one co-activator different from the one activator, at least one chelatant and/or at least one source of chelatant, said chelatant being preferably a scale inhibitor, and, optionally, at least one superplasticizer different from the chelatant. A kit is provided to make the binder. The binder is combined with an aggregate to make a dry concrete or mortar. A method for the preparation of a wet formulation (binder/water or concrete-mortar/water) is disclosed as is method of manufacturing buildings or civil engineering works or elements thereof, coatings, fillers, screeds, tiles, adhesives and/or internal or external insulation systems from the wet formulation. The binder is a substitute to OPC-based compositions and is environmentally friendly.
Enhanced Adhesive Drywall Finish and Joint Compound and Method of Use
The present invention relates to an improved drywall finish and joint compound comprised of a mixture of fractured aluminum oxide, glass bead, calcium sulfate, calcium carbonate, magnesium aluminum phyllosilicate, aluminum silicate hydroxide, polyvinyl acetate, polyvinyl alcohol, metamorphic mineral, sodium bicarbonate, silicon and aluminides, talc, kaolin, and metal oxide. The improved drywall finish and joint compound is capable of adhering to drywall, wood, concrete, brick, stone, steel and other surfaces, and can be applied using a conventional trowel or similar device, cures quickly, and eliminates the need for taping and bedding. The compound saves extensive time and labor when installing, repairing or working with drywall.
Solvent Cement Formulations
Provided are solvent cement formulations that include cyclopentanone, one or more additional solvents, and at least one resin. The formulations can contain a high concentration of dissolved resin, which confers beneficial properties and enables the use of the formulations for bonding large diameter piping components.
