In some embodiments, the lime-based cement extender composition, or product, is combined with cement to produce a cement blend for use in the mining industry as mine backfill.
Hydraulic composition for grout
A hydraulic composition including water; a hydraulic binder; at least one setting retarder; and at least one polysaccharide; the weight ratio of the water/hydraulic binder being greater than 1.5, methods of using the composition as a mixture in a grout and a corresponding method for preparing a grout and the grout thereby obtained.
COMPRESSIBLE GROUT MIX FOR USE IN ABSORBING COMPRESSIVE OR DEFORMATION STRESSES OF SUBTERRANEAN FORMATIONS
The present invention provides for a compressible grout mix for filling an annular gap between a tunnel rock wall surface and a tunnel liner of a tunnel in a rock formation subject to time dependent deformation after excavation and a method of filling the annular gap between a tunnel rock wall surface and a funnel liner of a tunnel in a rock formation subject to time dependent deformation after excavation utilizing the compressible grout mix for resilient absorption of forces in the hardened state of the compressible grout mix exerted by the time dependent deformation of the rock wall surface into the tunnel opening. The method includes: a. providing a compressible grout mix comprising hydraulic binding agent, bentonite clay, polymer foam particles, water, and one or more additives selected from water-reducing admixture and/or setting retarding admixture, aggregate materials, anti-wash agents and air, b. placing the compressible grout mix in the annular gap between the tunnel wall rock surface and the tunnel liner, and c. allowing the compressible grout mix to set, wherein the compressible grout mix in the hardened state has a compressible ratio greater than the anticipated time dependent deformation.
FILLING MATERIAL
The invention relates to a dry mix of a thermally insulating fill material for backfilling and/or filling. The fill material includes a cement-based binder and a thermally insulating material, and the thermally insulating material is newly foamed monograin polystyrene beads.
Fast-setting flowable fill compositions, and methods of utilizing and producing the same
Fast-setting flowable fill compositions for filling ground trenches are described. The compositions set quickly but retain a low strength psi at 28 days. The compositions also reduce bleed water on the surface of the fast-setting flowable fill and therefor enable quicker application of surface repair material, e.g., pavement patches, to the trench. The compositions consist of aggregate, Portland cement, accelerant, water and sometimes air. The compositions may have a compressive strength of between 5 psi and 60 psi after 2 hours, a compressive strength of between 10 psi and 100 psi after 4 hours, a compressive strength of between 75 psi and 500 psi after 28 days, a penetration resistance of between 1.5 tsf and 75 tsf after 2 hours, a penetration resistance of between 4.5 tsf and 200 tsf after 4 hours, and a shrinkage of less than 2% as measured by ASTM C490. Also disclosed are methods of filling a trench with fast-setting flowable fill.
BACKFILL MATERIAL FOR EARTHING APPLICATIONS
A conductive and swellable backfill material for earthing applications comprises a conductive material selected from the group of graphite, coke powder and a combination thereof, a polyacrylamide powder, a binder comprising cement, and, optionally, a salt selected from the group of magnesium sulfate, sodium sulfate and a combination thereof. This unique backfill material enables to utilize the same in low moisture zones because of its low resistivity, high-water absorption, and non-leachable behavior.
Flowable Compositions and Methods of Utilizing and Producing the Same
A low density annular grout composition for filling voids. The composition may consist of cementitious fly ash, water, set retarder and cellular foam. The composition may have a compressive strength of between 100 and 600 psi at seven days and less than 1500 psi at 28 days. The composition may have a density between 20 and 75 pcf. Also disclosed is a method of filling a void with a low density annular grout composition. The method can include determining the time necessary to fill the void, adding water and set retarder to a cementitious fly ash to make a wet mixture, adding air to the wet mixture, and adding the composition to the void.
