The present invention provides a method for producing a road making material and a road making material, the road making material comprising more than 10% polyvinylchloride (PVC) by weight and the polyvinylchloride having a glass transition temperature of no more than 180° C.

High strength reduced elastic modulus concrete
11414348 · 2022-08-16 · ·

Concrete that exhibits increased flexibility (i.e., low modulus of elasticity) and high compressive strength is described. High aspect ratio structures as may be formed of the concrete are described. Structures formed of the concrete can have the same high compressive strength as similar structures formed from a more conventional concrete but can be significantly more flexible, which can allow for better load distribution in the structure and associated assembly. The concrete includes a weathered granite as coarse aggregate. The materials can be particularly beneficial in forming concrete components of a rail infrastructure, such as railroad ties and slabs.

METHODS OF FORMING ASPHALT PAVEMENT USING FOAMED ASPHALT COMPOSITIONS

Foamed asphalt compositions, recycled asphalt compositions, asphalt pavement, and methods of forming asphalt pavement using the foamed asphalt compositions are provided herein. An exemplary foamed asphalt composition is in a cellular matrix form and includes a base asphalt component and oxidized high density polyethylene. An exemplary asphalt pavement includes a recycled asphalt layer that includes the foamed asphalt composition and a recycled asphalt component. An exemplary method of forming asphalt pavement includes combining a base asphalt component and an oxidized high density polyethylene to form an asphalt mixture. The asphalt mixture is foamed using water and compressed air to form a foamed asphalt composition. The foamed asphalt composition and a recycled asphalt component are combined to form a recycled asphalt composition. A recycled asphalt layer is formed with the recycled asphalt composition.

ACRYLATED AND ACYLATED OR ACETALIZED POLYOL AS A BIOBASED SUBSTITUTE FOR HARD, RIGID THERMOPLASTIC AND THERMOSET MATERIALS

The present invention relates to a homopolymer, copolymer, block copolymer, and statistical copolymer comprising plural polyol monomeric units. The polyol monomeric units being acrylated and acylated or acetalized. The acrylated and acylated or acetalized polyol monomeric units have an average degree of acrylation which is 1 or more, but less than the number of the hydroxyl groups of the polyol and have an average degree of acylation or acetalization which is 1 or more, but less than the number of the hydroxyl groups of the polyol. The present invention also relates to a method of making the homopolymers, copolymers, block copolymers, and statistical copolymers, and using them in various applications, such as asphalt rubber modifiers, adhesives, or an additive in a fracking fluid for oil fracking.

CEMENTITIOUS HYBRID FLOORING COMPOSITION

A multi-component composition comprising a first component including water, and a second component including at least one hydraulic binder, wherein the multi-component composition includes a copolymer CP, wherein the copolymer is a vinyl versatate copolymer CPA, and/or a copolymer based on styrene and (meth) acrylic acid esters CPB. The amount of hydraulic binder, based on the total weight of the multi-component composition, is from 25-65 weight-%. The multi-component composition is especially suitable as a flooring material for industrial floors and car parks.

Process for regenerating a monolithic, macro-structural, inter-penetrating elastomer network morphology from ground tire rubber particles

Crumb rubber obtained from recycled tires is subjected to an interlinked substitution process. The process utilizes a reactive component that interferes with sulfur bonds. The resulting treated rubber exhibits properties similar to those of the virgin composite rubber structure prior to being granulated, and is suitable for use in fabricating new tires, engineered rubber articles, and asphalt rubber for use in waterproofing and paving applications.

MAINTENANCE TREATMENTS USEFUL FOR IMPROVING THE PERFORMANCE OF AGED OR BRITTLE RESINOUS BINDERS IN PAVING OR ROOFING

Provided herein are an emulsified asphalt product and an emulsified coating product. Both emulsified products contain one or more rejuvenators of formula (I) or formula (X). The emulsified asphalt product is useful for improving the performance of aged or brittle resinous binders in paving applications while the emulsified coating product is similarly useful in roofing applications. Also provided herein is a treated bituminous pavement where the performance grade varies with depth.

MARKING TRAFFICKED PAVEMENT SUBSTRATES USING A DRY POLYMER MODIFIED CEMENT
20220098123 · 2022-03-31 ·

Trafficked pavement substrates utilize markings to segregate traffic (e.g., divide lanes traveling in the same direction, divide sides of the road traveling in opposite directions). A dry polymer modified cement mixture may be used to provide the markings. The dry polymer modified cement mixture is prepared by mixing a dry polymer modified cement blend (ordinary Portland cement, aggregate and polymer powders) with water. The location of the lines is identified, and the dry polymer modified cement mixture is applied onto the identified areas as a thin layer. The dry polymer modified cement blend may include polymers to provide colored markings. Glass beads may be embedded into the dry polymer modified mixture before it cures to retroreflect light shined thereon. The trafficked pavement substrate may have troughs formed therein and the dry polymer modified cement markings may be formed therewithin so that the markings are flush.

MODIFIED ASPHALT COMPOSITION

A modified asphalt composition contains a bituminous component, a copolymeric thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), a high-cis homopolymeric polybutadiene rubber (BR) and a cross-linking agent. The modified asphalt composition exhibits improved low temperature flexibility (crack resistance), improved resistance to rutting (deformation) and/or improved storage stability.

Cementitious composition with high bond strength to both asphalt and cement based materials
11155498 · 2021-10-26 ·

A hydratable cement composition which will bond to both asphalt and cementitious substrates is supplied for the repair of various surfaces. The composition comprises of a combination of Portland cement, calcium sulfoaluminate cement or calcium aluminosilicate, and an alkali metal salt activated pozzolonic powder, wherein the Portland cement content of the hydratable portion of the composition is greater than 20%. The composition is free from latex bonding agents and calcium aluminate. The composition is mixed with water to form a typical cement, mortar, or concrete consistency, placed and allowed to cure. The result is a self-adhering patch to damaged surfaces. The hydratable cement composition may also be used to fabricate items of original construction by casting into molds or forms.
