Corrosion-preventing additive for reinforced concrete
The corrosion-preventing additive for reinforced concrete is a concrete additive for preventing corrosion of steel rebars in steel-reinforced concrete. The corrosion-preventing additive is a solution with an organic solvent, the solute being either gallic acid (3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoic acid), at least one ester of gallic acid, or combinations thereof. The weight-to-volume concentration of the solute to the organic solvent may be between 1% and 10% w/v. Reinforced concrete may be made using the corrosion-preventing additive by mixing the corrosion-preventing additive with a conventional concrete mixture (i.e., a mixture of an aggregate, water, and cement), with at least one steel rebar being embedded in the mixture, similar to conventional steel rebar reinforced concrete. The concentration of the corrosion-preventing additive with respect to the cement of the mixture may be between 0.0125 wt % and 1.0 wt %.
CERAMIC FOAM FILTER AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF
A ceramic foam filter and a manufacturing method thereof. The ceramic foam filter comprises the following materials provided in respective weight percentages: 20-50% of a silicon carbide, 20-55% of a zirconium oxide, and 10-36% of a silicon oxide, wherein all figures are based on the total weight of the ceramic foam filter. The method for manufacturing the ceramic foam filter comprises the following steps: (a) providing a slurry comprising a silicon carbide, a zirconium oxide or zirconium oxide precursor, a silicon oxide or silicon oxide precursor, a binder, an optional additive, and a fluid carrier medium; (b) applying the slurry to perform surface ornamentation of a perforated organic foam; (c) drying the perforated organic foam surface ornamented with the slurry to obtain a green body; and (d) sintering the green body in oxygen-containing air to obtain the ceramic foam filter.
MITIGATION OF CORROSION IN CARBONATED CONCRETE BASED ON LOW-CALCIUM SILICATE CEMENT
The invention provides methods and compositions that prevent, mitigate or delay the onset of corrosion of iron or steel (e.g., plain carbon steel) components used as reinforcement or otherwise at least partially embedded in carbonated concrete composite materials and objects based on carbonatable calcium silicate cement.
MULTILAYER SINTERED CERAMIC BODY AND METHOD OF MAKING
Disclosed is a multilayer sintered ceramic body comprising at least one first layer comprising at least one crystalline phase of YAG, wherein the at least one first layer has at least one surface; and at least one second layer comprising alumina and at least one of stabilized zirconia and partially stabilized zirconia, wherein the at least one surface of the at least one first layer comprises pores wherein the pores have a maximum size of from 0.1 to 5 um as measured by SEM, and wherein each of the at least one first layer and the at least one second layer has a coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), wherein the CTE of the at least one first layer and the CTE of the at least one second layer differ from 0 to 0.6?10.sup.?6/? C. as measured in accordance with ASTM E228-17. Methods of making are also disclosed.
Pozzolanic compositions containing fly ash and remediation agents for use in cementitious materials
It has been unexpectedly discovered that the addition of a non-spec natural pozzolan to non-spec fly ash significantly improves the properties of the non-spec fly ash to the extent it can be certified under ASTM C618 and AASHTO 295, as either a Class F or Class C fly ash. Other pozzolans may also be used for this beneficiation process. Many pozzolans are experimentally tested and may be used to beneficiate non-spec fly ash into certifiable Class F fly ash. Additionally, this disclosure provides a method of converting a Class C fly ash to a more valuable Class F fly ash, by utilizing natural pozzolans. This discovery will extend diminishing Class F fly ash supplies and turn non-spec fly ash waste streams into valuable, certified fly ash pozzolan which will protect and enhance concrete, mortars and grouts.

COMPOSITE MATERIAL COMPRISING PHOSPHOGYPSUM
Provided is a composite material including a blend of components. The blend includes phosphogypsum, bitumen and particulate matter. The phosphogypsum may be present in an amount of at least 10% w/w out of the total weight of said composite material. Also provided herein is a method of producing the composite material, by, at least, mixing phosphogypsum and particulate matter at a temperature above 150 C. for a time sufficient to receive an essentially dry particulate mixture in which the amount of the phosphogypsum is such to obtain a composite material having at least 10% w/w out of the total dry weight of said composite material. While mixing molten bitumen may be introduced into the essentially dry particulate mixture to obtain the composite material. Articles of manufacture including the composite material are also disclosed.
