CERAMIC POWDERS WITH CONTROLLED SIZE DISTRIBUTION
Disclosed herein are methods for preparing a titanate compound powder comprising titanate compound particles having a controlled particle size and/or particle size distribution. The methods include mixing at least one first inorganic compound chosen from sources of a first metal or metal oxide, at least one second inorganic compound chosen from sources of titania, and at least one binder to form a mixture; calcining the mixture to form a polycrystalline material comprising a plurality of titanate compound grains and a plurality of micro-cracks; and breaking the polycrystalline material along at least a portion of the microcracks. Also disclosed are titanate compound powders having a controlled particle size distribution, ceramic batch compositions comprising the powders, and ceramic articles prepared from the batch compositions.
a/ß-Sialon Having Improved Sintering Activity and High Edge Strength
The invention relates to α/β-sialon-based materials. The invention particularly relates to α/β-sialon-based materials that have an improved sintering activity and impart high edge strength to the sintered molded articles made of said materials.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SINTERED BODY
Disclosed is a method for manufacturing a sintered body by sintering with laser irradiation, the method for manufacturing a sintered body, including: a raw material providing step of providing a raw material containing a ceramic powder and a laser absorbing oxide having an absorption rate at a laser wavelength higher by 5% or more than that of the ceramic powder; an article forming step of forming an article formed from the raw material, an article partially including a region consisting of only the raw material, or an article formed from the raw material and formed on a base material; and a sintering step of irradiating the article with a laser to form a sintered portion.
TRANSLUCENT ZIRCONIA SINTERED BODY, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME, AND USE THEREOF
Provided is a zirconia sintered body having both high translucency and high strength. The zirconia sintered body includes crystal grains that include a cubic domain and a tetragonal domain, wherein a stabilizer and lanthanum is dissolved as a solid solution therein. The sintered body can be obtained by a manufacturing method including: a mixing step of obtaining a mixed powder by mixing a zirconia source, a stabilizer source, and a lanthanum source; a molding step of obtaining a green body by molding the obtained mixed powder; a sintering step of obtaining a sintered body by sintering the obtained green body at a sintering temperature of 1650° C. or higher; and a temperature lowering step of lowering the temperature from the sintering temperature to 1000° C. at a temperature lowering rate exceeding 1° C./min.
Method for manufacturing large ceramic co-fired articles
A method of forming one or more high temperature co-fired ceramic articles, comprising the steps of:— a) forming a plurality of green compacts, by a process comprising dry pressing a powder comprising ceramic and organic binder to form a green compact; b) disposing a conductor or conductor precursor to at least one surface of at least one of the plurality of green compacts to form at least one patterned green compact; c) assembling the at least one patterned green compact with one or more of the plurality of green compacts or patterned green compacts or both to form a laminated assembly; d) isostatically pressing the laminated assembly to form a pressed laminated assembly; e) firing the pressed laminated assembly at a temperature sufficient to sinter the ceramic layers together.
Sintered clay mineral matrix doped with rare earth metals, transition metals, or post-transition metals
A porous sintered clay mineral matrix that contains aluminum and is doped with 0.1-20 mol %, based on the amount of the aluminum, one or more transition metals, one or more post-transition metals, one or more rare earth metals, or a combination thereof. An example is a kaolinite matrix. The matrix can be made from a calcined clay mineral powder that contains aluminum and is doped with at least one of these metals. Also disclosed are methods of preparing the above-described matrix and powder.
ABRASIVE PARTICLES AND METHODS OF FORMING SAME
An abrasive particle having a body including a first major surface, a second major surface opposite the first major surface, and a side surface extending between the first major surface and the second major surface, such that a majority of the side surface comprises a plurality of microridges.
MANUFACTURING METHOD OF MODIFIED ALUMINUM NITRIDE RAW MATERIAL, MODIFIED ALUMINUM NITRIDE RAW MATERIAL, MANUFACTURING METHOD OF ALUMINUM NITRIDE CRYSTALS, AND DOWNFALL DEFECT PREVENTION METHOD
The purpose of the present is to provide a modified AlN source for suppressing downfall defects. This manufacturing method of a modified aluminum nitride source involves a heat treatment step for heat treating an aluminum nitride source and generating an aluminum nitride sintered body.
