The housing (40) comprises a base part (50), a cover part (60) suitable to cover the base part (50), and a connecting means (70), provided at an interface between the base part (50) and the cover part (60). The base part (50) comprises a first hermetic material and the cover part comprises a second hermetic material and the connecting means (70) comprise a third hermetic material, adapted to hermetically seal the interior of the hermetic housing (40) from the outside of the hermetic housing (40). The present invention further refers to an implantable electronics package with such a housing, an implant, in particular a retinal implant, and a method to provide a hermetic housing for an implant.
Bonding dissimilar ceramic components
Adhesive compositions and methods for bonding materials with different thermal expansion coefficients is provided. The adhesive is formulated using a flux material, a low flux material, and a filler material, where the filler material comprises particulate from at least one of the two components being bonded together. A thickening agent can also be used as part of the adhesive composition to aid in applying the adhesive and establishing a desired bond thickness. The method of forming a high strength bond using the disclosed adhesive does not require the use of intermediary layer or the use of high cure temperatures that could damage one or both of the components being bonded together.
Converter-cooling element assembly with metallic solder connection
An assembly is provided that includes a ceramic converter for converting light having a first wavelength into light having a second wavelength, a metal-containing reflective coating, and a cooling element. The surface of the ceramic converter is at least partly coated with the metal-containing reflective coating. The coating dissipates the heat from the converter into the cooling element. The cooling element and the metal-containing reflective coating are connected to one another by a metallic solder connection.
Circuit board and electronic apparatus including the same
The circuit board includes a ceramic sintered body and a metal wiring layer provided on at least one primary surface thereof with a glass layer interposed therebetween, and when the cross section of the circuit board perpendicular to the primary surface of the ceramic sintered body is viewed, the ratio of the length of an interface between the glass layer and the metal wiring layer to a length of the glass layer in a direction along the primary surface is 1.25 to 1.80.
CERAMIC COMPONENT FORMED FROM CERAMIC PORTIONS BONDED TOGETHER WITH A HALOGEN PLASMA RESISTANT BONDING AGENT
A bonded ceramic component which is resistant to reactive halogen-containing plasmas, said component comprising ceramic portions which are bonded together by a bonding material which includes an oxyfluoride glass-ceramic-comprising transition area between interfaces of the ceramic portions, where the transition area includes form at least 0.1 volume % amorphous phase up to about 50 volume % amorphous phase.
Induction sealing of inorganic substrates
A method of sealing at least two inorganic substrates together using an induction energy source comprising applying to at least one of the substrates a paste composition including a glass frit, and an induction coupling additive, bringing at least a second substrate into contact with the paste composition, and subjecting the substrates and paste to induction heating, thereby forming a hermetic seal between the two inorganic substrates.
Method for sealing an oxygen transport membrane assembly
An improved method of sealing a ceramic part to a solid part made of ceramic, metal, cermet or a ceramic coated metal is provided. The improved method includes placing a bond agent comprising an Al.sub.2O.sub.3 and SiO.sub.2 based glass-ceramic material and organic binder material on adjoining surfaces of the ceramic part and the solid part. The assembly is heated to a first target temperature that removes or dissolves the organic binder material from the bond agent and the assembly is subjected to a second induction heating step at a temperature ramp rate of between about 100? C. and 200? C. per minute to temperatures where the glass-ceramic material flows and wets the interface between adjoining surfaces. The assembly is rapidly cooled at a cooling rate of about 140? C. per minute or more to induce nucleation and re-crystallization of the glass-ceramic material to form a dense, durable and gas-tight seal.
Method for Joining Ceramics to Ceramics or Ceramics to Metals, and Apparatus
An assembly including a ceramic body. The assembly comprises a tungsten coupling attached to the ceramic body with a first joint that forms a first helium tight seal between the ceramic body and the tungsten coupling and where the first helium tight seal maintains its integrity at a temperature over 400 C. The assembly includes a metal body attached to the tungsten coupling with a second joint that forms a second helium tight seal between the metal body and the tungsten coupling and where the second helium tight seal maintains its integrity at a temperature over 400 C. A method. A mixture. A coupling.
