A ceramic matrix composite component includes a first substrate and a second substrate each formed of a silicide-containing ceramic matrix composite, silicon carbide layers respectively coating a bonding surface of the first substrate and a bonding surface of the second substrate, and a bonding layer formed of a silicon-containing alloy and provided between the silicon carbide layer coating the bonding surface of the first substrate and the silicon carbide layer coating the bonding surface of the second substrate.
FLOW PATH ASSEMBLIES FOR GAS TURBINE ENGINES AND ASSEMBLY METHODS THEREFORE
Flow path assemblies and methods for forming such flow path assemblies for gas turbine engines are provided. For example, a method for assembling an airfoil with a boundary structure to form a flow path assembly is provided. The method includes machining an opening into the boundary structure. The opening is sized to receive an airfoil or other component. The method also includes machining a cutout into the boundary structure proximate the opening. A locking feature is inserted into the cutout. When the airfoil is inserted into the opening, the locking feature interlocks the airfoil with the boundary structure. To seal the airfoil with the boundary structure, the airfoil is pressed against or into the boundary structure. When the airfoil is pressed, the locking feature is compressed such that a seal is formed between the airfoil and the boundary structure to seal the flow path assembly.
Multi-layer plate device
A method for the joining of ceramic pieces with a hermetically sealed joint comprising brazing a continuous layer of joining material between the two pieces. The wetting and flow of the joining material is controlled by the selection of the joining material, the joining temperature, the time at temperature, the joining atmosphere, and other factors. The ceramic pieces may be aluminum nitride and the pieces may be brazed with an aluminum alloy under controlled atmosphere. The joint material is adapted to later withstand both the environments within a process chamber during substrate processing, and the oxygenated atmosphere which may be seen within the shaft of a heater or electrostatic chuck.
Perforated ceramic matrix composite ply, ceramic matrix composite article, and method for forming ceramic matrix composite article

The article includes at least one shell ply forming an exterior wall having first and second portions and defining a plenum. An annular brace formed of at least one structural support ply is disposed within the plenum, including a first integral portion integral with and part of the first portion of the exterior wall, a first curved portion extending from the first integral portion and curving across the article plenum to the second portion of the exterior wall, a second integral portion integral with and part of the second portion of the exterior wall, a second curved portion extending from the second integral portion and curving across the article plenum to the first curved portion, and an overlap in which the first and second curved portions are integral.
METHOD FOR REPAIRING CERAMIC MATRIX COMPOSITE AND CERAMIC MATRIX COMPOSITE MEMBER
A method for repairing a target member including a ceramic matrix composite reinforced by ceramic fiber includes: a removal step of removing at least a part of a surface of the target member; an arrangement step of arranging a green body for repair which includes the ceramic fiber on a portion where the surface is removed in the removal step; an impregnation step of impregnating at least the portion of the target member where the green body for repair is disposed with slurry; and a sintering step of sintering the target member on which the green body for repair is disposed, after the impregnation step.
Methods of fabricating a polycrystalline diamond compact
Embodiments relate to polycrystalline diamond compacts (PDCs) and methods of manufacturing such PDCs in which an at least partially leached polycrystalline diamond (PCD) table is infiltrated with a low viscosity cobalt-based alloy infiltrant. In an embodiment, a method includes forming a PCD table in the presence of a metal-solvent catalyst in a first high-pressure/high-temperature (HPHT) process. The method includes at least partially leaching the PCD table to remove at least a portion of the metal-solvent catalyst therefrom to form an at least partially leached PCD table. The method includes subjecting the at least partially leached PCD table and a substrate to a second HPHT process effective to at least partially infiltrate the at least partially leached PCD table with a cobalt-based alloy infiltrant having a composition at or near a eutectic composition of the cobalt-based alloy infiltrant.
Integral Ceramic Matrix Composite Fastener With Polymer Rigidization
A gas turbine engine component includes a gas turbine engine component body formed of a ceramic matrix composite material having at least one fastener integrally formed with the gas turbine engine component body as a single-piece structure. The gas turbine engine component body initially comprises a rigidized preform structure formed from a polymer based material. The at least one fastener connects the gas turbine engine component body to an engine support structure.
Method for manufacturing vehicle brake disc
A brake disc manufactured by a method of manufacturing a brake disc according to the present invention includes a carbon fiber Cf, silicon Si, silicon carbide Sic, and a silicon-copper alloy Si.sub.xCu.sub.y. The carbon fiber Cf, silicon Si, carbon C, and silicon carbide SiC make a disc light and provide high thermal shock resistance, anti-oxidation, wear resistance, strength, and friction coefficient. The copper Cu and silicon-copper alloy Si.sub.xCu.sub.y increase heat capacity at constant volume of a disc, so a large increase in temperature of the disc is prevented and a changing range of the friction coefficient is reduced in braking. Accordingly, the brake disc according to the present invention has all of the advantage of a brake disc made of a carbon fiber-reinforced ceramic composites without thermal deformation and deterioration of a pad, a hat part, and a caliper.
Joined body and method for producing the same
A joined body 20 includes a porous ceramic 22 made of porous ceramic, a metal member 24 made of a metal, and a joint 30 formed of an oxide ceramic that penetrates into pores 23 of the porous ceramic 22 and joins the porous ceramic 22 to the metal member 24. The penetration depth of the oxide ceramic into the pores of the porous ceramic is preferably 10 m or more, and more preferably 15 to 50 m. The joined body 20 may be produced through a joining step of forming a joint by placing a metal raw material between a porous ceramic and a metal member and firing the metal raw material in the air at a temperature in the range of 400 C. to 900 C., where an oxide ceramic produced by oxidation of the metal raw material penetrates into the pores of the porous ceramic in the joint.
