A method for manufacturing a composite material part provided with a measuring sensor, the method including assembly of a first consolidated or unconsolidated preform of the part to be obtained with a second preform of a holding member, co-densification of the first and second preforms thus assembled in order to obtain the composite material part provided with the holding member, and positioning of at least one sensor of a physical or chemical parameter in a housing defined by the holding member.
SPINEL-REINFORCED MAGNESIUM OXIDE-BASED FOAM CERAMIC FILTER AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREFOR
A spinel-reinforced magnesium oxide-based foam ceramic filter that is obtained by by coating onto a polyurethane foam carrier a slurry of light calcined magnesium oxide-based ceramic comprising a nanometer lanthanum oxide sintering aid, and then drying and sintering. A method for preparing the foam ceramic filter comprising: 1) preparing a ceramic slurry having a solid content of 60%-70% by dosing 15%-25% by mass of a nanometer alumina sol, 0.8%-1.5% by mass of a rheological agent, and the balance magnesium oxide ceramic powder comprising a nanometer lanthanum oxide sintering aid, and then adding absolute ethanol and ball milling to mix until uniform; 2) soaking a polyurethane foam template into the ceramic slurry, squeezing by a roller press the polyurethane foam template to remove redundant slurry therein to make a biscuit, and then removing the ethanol solvent in a ventilation chamber at a temperature of 40 C.-50 C. to dry the biscuit; 3) putting the dried biscuit into a sintering furnace, elevating the temperature to 1350 C.-1550 C. and performing a high temperature sintering, cooling to the room temperature with the furnace to obtain the magnesium oxide-based ceramic foam filter.
Ceramic matrix composite articles
A ceramic matrix composite article includes a chemical vapor infiltration ceramic matrix composite base portion including ceramic fiber reinforcement material in a ceramic matrix material having between 0% and 5% free silicon. The ceramic matrix composite article further includes a melt infiltration ceramic matrix composite covering portion including a ceramic fiber reinforcement material in a ceramic matrix material having a greater percentage of free silicon than the chemical vapor infiltration ceramic matrix composite base portion.
Flow path assemblies for gas turbine engines and assembly methods therefore
Flow path assemblies and methods for forming such flow path assemblies for gas turbine engines are provided. For example, a method for assembling an airfoil with a boundary structure to form a flow path assembly is provided. The method includes machining an opening into the boundary structure. The opening is sized to receive an airfoil or other component. The method also includes machining a cutout into the boundary structure proximate the opening. A locking feature is inserted into the cutout. When the airfoil is inserted into the opening, the locking feature interlocks the airfoil with the boundary structure. To seal the airfoil with the boundary structure, the airfoil is pressed against or into the boundary structure. When the airfoil is pressed, the locking feature is compressed such that a seal is formed between the airfoil and the boundary structure to seal the flow path assembly.
Methods for repairing composite cylinders
Methods for repairing composite cylindrical components are provided. One exemplary method for repairing a cylindrical component defining an axial direction, a radial direction, and a circumferential direction includes removing a damaged region of the cylindrical component. A flange extending from a cylindrical body of the cylindrical component is included in the damaged region. One or more arc segments that extend along the circumferential direction are connected with the existing cylindrical component. At least one of the arc segments includes a prefabricated flange. One or more plies are laid up to connect the arc segments with the existing cylindrical component to repair the damaged region of the cylindrical body and the prefabricated flange formed integrally with one of the arc segments replaces the damaged portion of the flange. Repaired cylindrical components are also provided.
Method of making a ceramic matrix composite (CMC) component including a protective ceramic layer
A method of preparing a ceramic matrix composite (CMC) component that includes a protective ceramic layer comprises adhering at least one flexible ceramic tape to a ceramic fiber preform, where the at least one flexible ceramic tape comprises ceramic particles dispersed in an organic binder phase. After the adhering, the at least one flexible ceramic tape is heated to a temperature sufficient to volatilize the organic binder phase, thereby forming a porous ceramic layer on at least a portion of the ceramic fiber preform. After the heating and volatilizing, the ceramic fiber preform and the porous ceramic layer are infiltrated with a molten material, thereby forming a CMC component including, on at least a portion thereof, a protective ceramic layer.
Semiconductor Substrate Support With Multiple Electrodes And Method For Making Same
A method for manufacturing an electrostatic chuck with multiple chucking electrodes made of ceramic pieces using metallic aluminum as the joining. The aluminum may be placed between two pieces and the assembly may be heated in the range of 770C to 1200C. The joining atmosphere may be non-oxygenated. After joining the exclusions in the electrode pattern may be machined by also machining through one of the plate layers. The machined exclusion slots may then be filled with epoxy or other material. An electrostatic chuck or other structure manufactured according to such methods.
Method for producing a ceramic component composed of a plurality of joined preforms and component obtained by the method
A method for producing a component includes a) providing at least two preforms each made of a carbon composite material, b) joining the at least two preforms at least at one respective connecting surface to form a composite, in which a joining compound is introduced between the joining surfaces of the preforms and then cured and the joining compound contains silicon carbide and at least one polymer adhesive, and c) siliconizing the composite to form the component. A component, such as an optical component produced thereby, is also provided.
POLYCRYSTALLINE DIAMOND
An embodiment of a PCD insert comprises an embodiment of a PCD element joined to a cemented carbide substrate at an interface. The PCD element has internal diamond surfaces defining interstices between them. The PCD element comprises a masked or passivated region and an unmasked or unpassivated region, the unmasked or unpassivated region defining a boundary with the substrate, the boundary being the interface.
