A pre-stressed curved plate comprising a curved plate having at least one concave surface, the curved plate being enveloped and adhesively bonded with tensioned reinforcing fibers, whereby the reinforcing fibers are first wound around the plate under tension being spaced apart from the concave surface and subsequently subjected to pressure to stretch and bond the reinforcing fibers to the surfaces of the plate, where upon bonding, the tensile strain of the fiber introduces stress in the plate.

Low Temperature Method For Hermetically Joining Non-Diffusing Ceramic Materials In Multi-Layer Plate Devices

A method for the joining of ceramic pieces with a hermetically sealed joint comprising brazing a layer of joining material between the two pieces. The wetting and flow of the joining material is controlled by the selection of the joining material, the joining temperature, the joining atmosphere, and other factors. The ceramic pieces may be on a non-diffusable type, such as aluminum nitride, alumina, beryllium oxide, and zirconia, and the pieces may be brazed with an aluminum alloy under controlled atmosphere. The joint material is adapted to later withstand both the environments within a process chamber during substrate processing, and the oxygenated atmosphere which may be seen within the shaft of a heater or electrostatic chuck.

The present disclosure is related to turbine wheel assemblies for gas turbine engines. Such turbine wheel assemblies may include ceramic matrix composite airfoil components mounted with different types of coupling to a central disc.

Device comprising a pressure-bearing device shell and an interior scaffolding system

An apparatus contains at least one pressure-rated apparatus shell and at least one modular framework system containing ceramic fiber composite materials and arranged within the apparatus shell. A modular lining apparatus includes the modular framework system and refractory bricks. The apparatus can be used for high-temperature reactors, especially electrically heated high-temperature reactors.

CRUCIBLE FOR CASTING NEAR-NET SHAPE (NNS) SILICON

A crucible includes an outer element and an inner element. The outer element includes a first portion that is horizontal at a bottom end of the crucible and a second portion that ascends radially outwardly from the bottom end of the crucible to a top end of the crucible at a first acute angle to a vertical axis. The inner element includes a conus with a cylinder at a base of the conus. The conus descends radially outwardly from the top end of the crucible to the bottom end of the crucible at a second acute angle to the vertical axis. The inner element includes a base portion of the cylinder attached to the first portion of the outer element using a sealant to form a hollow mold between an inner portion of the outer element and an outer portion of the inner element.

Nanomaterial assisted bonding method to produce curved surfaces

A method of fabricating a curved surface bonding technique using low melting temperature nanoparticles or nanofilms/nanoparticles of reactive metals as eutectic compounds. The ability of nanomaterials to melt at low temperature lowers the bonding temperature and reduces/eliminates the residual stresses generated in bulk material during the bonding process of two materials with different coefficients of thermal expansion. The nanoscale materials will then be integrated and the new bond will assume properties of the bulk material, including its higher melting temperature.

Composite Airfoil Assembly for an Interdigitated Rotor
20190338656 · 2019-11-07 ·

Rotor assemblies and methods for manufacturing airfoils for rotor assemblies are provided. For example, a rotor assembly comprises a rotary structure extending circumferentially about an axial centerline of a gas turbine engine, an airfoil having a root and a tip, and a pin extending through the root. The root is coupled to the rotary structure and has a bulbous shape, and the airfoil is formed from a plurality of composite plies. The pin defines both a planar first surface and a planar second surface on a pin body having a generally circular cross-section. Further, the pin includes a first end and a second end that contact the rotary structure. The first and second surfaces together form a point that is oriented toward the tip of the airfoil. In one embodiment, the rotary structure is an outer rotor of an interdigitated rotor assembly and the airfoil extends radially inward.
