METHODS FOR PRODUCING BIOGAS AND RENEWABLE NATURAL GAS USING CO-PRODUCTS FROM A STILLAGE STREAM AS FEEDSTOCKS
20240336941 · 2024-10-10 ·

Disclosed herein are methods and systems for producing biogas and/or renewable natural gas. Methods of producing biogas and/or renewable natural gas include using clarified thin stillage, clarified thin stillage syrup, or any combination thereof, as a feedstock for anaerobic digestion to produce the biogas and/or renewable natural gas from the resultant biogas. Methods for producing biogas and/or renewable natural gas include: (a) introducing feedstock comprising clarified thin stillage or clarified thin stillage syrup to an anaerobic digester; and (b) digesting the feedstock to produce methane-containing gas streams, such as biogas and/or renewable natural gas.

AGROINDUSTRIAL PROCESS WITH MINIMAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
20180255716 · 2018-09-13 ·

An agro-industrial process with minimal environmental impact, of the type having a step of cultivating vegetable and/or mushroom products, includes a step of harvesting the products, at least one step of thermo-mechanical treatment of the products in order to obtain intermediate products, and a step of packaging of a final stage of the intermediate products.

The thermo-mechanical treatment step provides for a mechanical process of removing the unnecessary parts from the products so as to define waste. The waste, constituted exclusively by vegetable substances, is separated from the intermediate products, intended for the subsequent treatment and packaging steps, and sent into a biogas production unit. The digestate, constituted by the waste of the biogas production unit, is used as a fertilizer on the respective cultivation soil in a new step of cultivation of vegetable products.

PROCESS FOR POTASH RECOVERY FROM BIOMETHANATED SPENT WASH WITH CONCOMITANT ENVIRONMENTAL REMEDIATION OF EFFLUENT

Molasses based alcohol distilleries generate highly contaminated, dark coloured and foul smelling effluent (bio-methanated spent wash, BMSW, also known as post methanated effluent). While the prevailing practices for treatment of alcohol distillery effiuents operate on the premises of liability management, high potassium content of spent wash (ca. 2% w/v in BMSVV) offers an opportunity for its utilisation in production of potash fertilisersa major agricultural input. The present invention provides process for potash recovery from BMSW with concomitant environmental remediation of effluent. The process involves pre-treatment of BMSW followed by potash recovery through selective precipitation technique to produce potash fertilisers and activated carbon while generating a relatively benign effluent (>80% remediation). It may further be possible for the alcohol distilleries to achieve ZLD status by incorporating commercially practiced water recovery techniques (viz., multiple effect evaporation/nano-filtration/reverse osmosis etc.) for downstream processing of the process effluent.

Slow-Release Fertilizer Composition and Preparation Method
20180251408 · 2018-09-06 · ·

A method of making the slow-release fertilizer and the composition thereof includes the steps of adding Class A Exceptional Quality biosolids at a percentage-by-weight of 35% to 75%, brewing grains at a percentage-by-weight of 10% to 50%, and dried algae at a percentage-by-weight of 5% to 20%. Biosolids are digested in an anaerobic digester for 15 days. Biosolids are dried to a moisture content under 6% and brewing grains and algae are dried to a moisture content under 10%. Algae is pressed to isolate the dried algae cell wall. The algae is dried to a moisture content under 10%. The Class A Exceptional Quality biosolids, brewing grains, and algae cell wall are pulverized to a mesh size between 100 to 300 and blended according to the above proportions.
