The substrate is predominantly or completely bare or provided with coating(s) such that the substrate, thus coated, exhibits a haze of less than 15% and/or a light transmission T.sub.L of greater than 60% and/or an opacity indicator of less than 85. The item of equipment also includes at least one heating element and at least one interface for communication with at least one element of the worktop and/or with at least one external element for wireless communication. The item of equipment is devoid of light source(s).

Provided is a table top including: an upper plate, which is constituted by a plate-shaped non-magnetic member so as to support an electronic or cooking device placed thereon; an energy supply module, which is disposed under the upper plate so as to supply energy to the electronic or cooking device; at least one light source configured to generate light; and at least one light-transmissive portion, which is provided in the upper plate and through which the light generated by the light source is transmitted; and at least one light guide configured to guide the light, generated by the light source, to the light-transmissive portion, wherein the at least one light guide allows at least a portion of the light, generated by the light source, to be emitted upward from the upper plate through the light-transmissive portion.

A multilayered illuminated laminate system including a light source positioned proximate to an edge of a light panel that includes a series of reflective paint in the shape of diamonds of increasing size is provided. The system further includes a diffuser sheet of sufficient opacity that it obscures the diamond pattern on the bottom surface of the light panel and a reinforced panel formed from fiberglass that bestows the system with scratch, abrasion, impact, and chemical resistance to meet or exceed current regulatory requirements. The light source is positioned within a clamp mount that contains the light panel, diffuser, and reinforced panel in frictional engagement without the need for an adhesive. A graphic can be positioned between the diffuser sheet and the reinforced panel to increase the aesthetic appearance of the system exterior surface, as well as moderate the intensity of the light it emits.
