Catalysts and method of preparing the catalysts are disclosed. One of the catalysts includes a zeolite support, a Group VIII metal on the zeolite support, and at least two halides bound to the zeolite support, to the Group VIII metal, or to both, and can have an average crush strength greater than 11.25 lb based on at least two samples of pellets of the catalyst measured in accordance with ASTM D4179.

Processes for conversion of methane and ethane into syngas and ethylene are provided. An exemplary process can include providing a reaction mixture of methane, ethane, oxygen, and carbon dioxide and contacting the reaction mixture with a catalyst that includes at least one metal oxide. The processes can be combined processes in which oxidative dry reforming of methane and dehydrogenation of ethane to ethylene with carbon dioxide and oxygen occur concurrently.

PROCESS FOR PRODUCING BUTADIENE FROM ETHANOL WITH IN SITU REGENERATION OF THE CATALYST OF THE SECOND REACTION STEP

The present invention relates to a process for producing butadiene from ethanol, in two reaction steps, comprising a step a) of converting ethanol into acetaldehyde and a step b) of conversion into butadiene, said step b) simultaneously implementing a reaction step and a regeneration step in (n+n/2) fixed-bed reactors, n being equal to 2 or a multiple thereof, comprising a catalyst, said regeneration step comprising four successive regeneration phases, said step b) also implementing a regeneration loop for the inert gas and at least one regeneration loop for the gas streams comprising oxygen.

Methanation catalyst

The invention relates to use of a catalyst comprising particles of nickel dispersed in a porous silica matrix for catalyzing a methanation reaction. There is also described a method for methanation of a feedstock at least comprising gases carbon monoxide and hydrogen, said method comprising contacting the feedstock with the catalyst.

METATHESIS CATALYST AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING OLEFIN

The present invention provides a catalyst comprising a transition metal, an inorganic support, a zeolite, and a layered double hydroxide. Using of the catalyst according to the present invention in an olefin production process exhibits high activity and high selectivity with decreased deactivation rate, therefore longer reaction cycle can be performed and catalyst life is prolonged.

Catalyst composition

The present invention provides an improved catalyst and a method for its manufacture. The catalyst comprises an acidic, porous crystalline material and has a Proton Density Index of greater than about 1.0, for example from greater than 1.0 to about 2.0, e.g. from about 1.01 to about 1.85. This catalyst may be used to effect conversion in chemical reactions, and is particularly useful in a process for selectively producing a monoalkylated aromatic compound comprising the step of contacting an alkylatable aromatic compound with an alkylating agent under at least partial liquid phase conditions. The acidic, porous crystalline material of the catalyst may comprise an acidic, crystalline molecular sieve having the structure of zeolite Beta, an MWW structure type material, e.g. MCM-22, MCM-36, MCM-49 MCM-56, or a mixture thereof.

A process for the preparation of an alkene from an oxygenate comprising contacting a reactant feedstream comprising at least one oxygenate reactant and water with a supported heteropolyacid catalyst at a temperature of at least 170° C., wherein the process is initiated using a start-up procedure comprising the following steps: (i) heating the supported heteropolyacid catalyst to a temperature of at least 220° C.; (ii) maintaining the heat-treated supported heteropolyacid catalyst of step (i) at a temperature of at least 220° C. for a time sufficient to remove bound water from the heteropolyacid component of the supported heteropolyacid catalyst; (iii) under an anhydrous atmosphere, reducing the temperature of the heat-treated supported heteropolyacid catalyst of step (ii) to a temperature below 220° C.; and (iv) contacting the supported heteropolyacid catalyst of step (iii) with the reactant feedstream at a temperature of at least 170° C.

In a process for the synthesis of a crystalline molecular sieve material having the EUO framework type, a synthesis mixture is provided suitable for the formation of an EUO framework type molecular sieve and comprising N,N,N,N′,N′,N′-hexamethylhexanediammonium, Q, cations and a colloidal suspension of seed crystals of an EUO framework type molecular sieve. The synthesis mixture is crystallized and an EUO framework type molecular sieve in the form individual crystals and/or aggregates of crystals having an average size, d.sub.50, as measured by laser scattering, of less than 15 μm is recovered from the synthesis mixture.
