An electronic medication storage cabinet includes a plurality of drawers configured with a plurality of sensors arranged to identify a positioning of storage pockets within the drawers. Upon receiving an indication of a new medicine container to be loaded in the cabinet, a sequence of steps to load the medicine container into the cabinet is generated based on a mapping algorithm. A first step is displayed on a display the cabinet, and a determination is made as to whether the first step is associated with one of the plurality of drawers. In response to determining that the first step is associated with one of the plurality of drawers, the drawer is automatically unlocked. In response to determining that the first step is successfully completed, a determination of whether execution of any additional steps is pending and indicated on the display.

Systems and methods related to medical cabinets and medical cabinet systems are provided. In particular, they include structure and systems that incorporate or expand medical cabinet systems with platform-based (open access) devices that can assist with managing and stocking of medical products in controlled environments (e.g., rooms having restricted access such locks or key codes to allow authorized personnel). They also include providing convenient expansion to temperature regulated products by adapting refrigerators or freezers using specialized shelf top platform devices that operate inside the refrigerator or freezer by way of the integration of algorithms and/or hardware.

Devices and methods for controlled dispensation are described herein where such an assembly may generally comprise an index plate having one or more protrusions extending from a surface of the plate, a first actuator configured to translate the plate in a first direction, and a second actuator configured to translate the plate in a second direction different from the first direction. The one or more protrusions may define one or more rows which are arranged upon the plate in a collinear arrangement and may further define one or more columns which are arranged upon the plate at an angle relative to a proximal or distal edge of the plate such that each protrusion is off-set relative to an adjacent protrusion along the column.

A medical station includes a cassette system provided at a moveable cart. The cassette system includes locking drawers, proximity sensors, each of which is associated with one of the drawers, and a computer system with an input device. The computer system receives data from the proximity sensors to determine a position of each of the drawers.
