A method of producing a corrosion-resistant substrate may comprise contacting at least a portion of a first surface of a substrate with a corrosion inhibitor solution and drying the corrosion inhibitor solution to produce the corrosion-resistant film on the substrate, wherein at least a portion of the solvent may be expelled from the corrosion inhibitor solution during the drying to form the corrosion-resistant film, such that the corrosion-resistant film is solid. The corrosion inhibitor solution and the corrosion-resistant film may comprise a pyridinium hydroxyl alkyl ether compound.
