Sportsball Construction with Antimicrobial Function
20210370142 · 2021-12-02 ·

An antimicrobial sportsball includes a ball carcass having an interior cavity and an antimicrobial ball cover, covering the ball carcass. The antimicrobial ball cover contains and releases antimicrobial agent to the ball surface and the environment. The ball carcass includes an inflatable bladder adapted to be inflated into a designated size and shape and a cushion layer covering the inflatable wound or lined bladder, so as to provide additional cushioning effect and form channels.

SYNERGISTIC ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY OF MEDIUM POLARITY OILS IN COMBINATION WITH ANTIBACTERIAL AGENTS ON BACTERIAL BIOFILMS

The compositions of the present invention comprise at least one medium polarity oil and at least one antibacterial agent, the combination of which produces a synergistic antibacterial effect against bacterial biofilms. Methods are disclosed for the reduction of bacteria in and/or elimination of bacterial biofilms on biological and non-biological surfaces, as well as methods for the treatment of wounds, skin lesions, mucous membrane lesions, and other biological surfaces infected or contaminated with bacterial biofilms.

PREPARATION OF SOLUBLE COMPOUNDS

Oxidized metal complexes are formed using methods which adjust the pH of solutions to obtain oxidized metal complexes having particular physicochemical properties. A method for preparing an oxidized metal complex includes providing a first solution comprising a highly oxidized metal and having a pH between 0 to 7; providing a second solution comprising one or more ligands or a ligand precursor and having a pH between 7 to 13 or greater; and combining the first solution and the second solution to form a third solution comprising the first oxidized metal complex. A method for preparing an oxidized metal complex includes providing a species solution comprising a first oxidized metal complex and having a pH of at least pH 11; and adjusting the pH of the species solution to form a second oxidized metal complex. Compositions and methods for preparing and using same are provided.

SELF-GELLING WOUND CONTACT MATERIALS WITH IODINE DELIVERY

Disclosed embodiments relate to wound care materials and methods that comprise a self-gelling composition, configured to form a gel upon contacting fluid. The self-gelling composition is a substantially homogeneous mixture, and comprises fluid-absorbent particles loaded with iodine-based antimicrobial agent, a dehydrated hydrogel powder, and a polymer base, configured to allow dispensing the self-gelling composition from a syringe or tube and to prevent the self-gelling composition from gelling prior to contacting fluid. The gel performs one or more of the following tasks during a wear time, when applied at the wound: absorbing fluid or exudate, releasing iodine-based antimicrobial agent, achieving antimicrobial activities at the wound, remaining structurally integral and cohesive, protecting the wound from exposure to microorganisms, and facilitating healing. After a wear time of at least three days, the gel can be removed in two pieces or less and leave less than 5% residue by weight.

PERACETIC ACID ANTIMICROBIAL COMPOSITION SYSTEM AND METHOD
20230263159 · 2023-08-24 ·

An antimicrobial composition includes peracetic acid and witch hazel extract. The peracetic acid can be formed by combining and reacting the acetic acid and hydrogen peroxide, for example at the point of use. Alternatively, the peracetic acid may be formed separately and mixed with the witch hazel extract prior to use. The resulting peracetic acid and hydrogen peroxide are, thus, combined with the witch hazel extract prior to use. The combination of peracetic acid, hydrogen peroxide and witch hazel extract may be applied as an antimicrobial. The antimicrobial composition may be applied topically to various organs (e.g., skin, nose, ears, mouth, throat, urethra, urinary bladder, gastrointestinal organs) or instilled through an indwelling urinary catheter or applied or inserted as a topical additive or coating to devices or other organ surfaces or other medical devices, or on the skin of the body or surfaces of inanimate objects.
