Chalcogenosilacyclopentanes
A new class of compounds known as chalcogenosilacyclopentanes is described. These compounds are five-membered ring structures containing a silicon-selenium or silicon-tellurium bond, as shown in Formulas (I) and (II). In these compounds, the substituents on the silicon and on the ring carbons may be hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, aromatic, or ether groups. The chalcogenosilacyclopentane compounds undergo ring-opening reactions with hydroxyl and other protic functionalities and may be used to prepare substrates that are amenable to thin film deposition techniques such as ALD and CVD. ##STR00001##

The coordination complexes can include metals such as tin or silicon. Also described are methods of using the coordination complexes in transmetallation reactions, e.g., to prepare sulfur coordination polymers, and sulfur coordination polymers doped with tetrathiafulvalene-based dithiolene linkers having different oxidation states.

Provided herein is a composition for treating aluminum containing surfaces, wherein the composition includes a reaction product of at least one amine-functionalized organosilane and/or oligomer and/or polymer thereof and at least one fatty acid, wherein the molar ratio of the amino group/s of the at least one amine-functionalized organosilane and/or oligomer and/or polymer thereof and of the at least one fatty acid is 1.2:1 to 1:2, and wherein the at least one amine-functionalized organosilane and/or oligomer and/or polymer thereof is linked to the at least one fatty acid by at least one carboxylic acid/amine salt bond and/or at least one amide bond.

Provided is a catalyst which comprises a compound represented by formula (1) and which exhibits activity for at least one type of reaction selected from among hydrosilylation reaction or hydrogenation reaction with respect to an aliphatic unsaturated bond and hydrosilane reduction reaction with respect to a carbon-oxygen unsaturated bond or a carbon-nitrogen unsaturated bond. Formula (1): M.sub.n(L.sub.m) {M represents Fe, Co, or Ni having an oxidation number of 0, L represents an isocyanide ligand represented by formula (2), n denotes an integer of 1-8, and m denotes an integer of 2-12. Formula (2): (CN).sub.x—R.sup.1 (R.sup.1 represents a mono- to trivalent-organic group having 1-30 carbon atoms, optionally being substituted by a halogen atom, and optionally having interposed therein one or more atoms selected from among O, N, S, and Si; and x denotes an integer of 1-3.)}.
