PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF A SACCHARIDE-CONTAINING SOLUTION FROM A TORREFIED CELLULOSIC BIOMASS
20170342510 · 2017-11-30 ·

A saccharide-containing solution is prepared from a cellulosic biomass feedstock in a process, where the cellulosic biomass feedstock includes torrefied biomass material, and where the torrefied biomass material is hydrolyzed in an aqueous reactant by contacting it with the aqueous reactant that comprises hydrochloric acid with a concentration of 35 to 45% wt, based on the weight of the combination of hydrochloric acid and water, to yield a saccharide-containing solution.

Methods and compositions for extracting nucleic acids using ferric oxide particles

Methods and compositions for extracting nucleic acids such as microRNAs (miRNAs) from biological samples are provided. Aspects of the methods include contacting a biological sample with proteinase K followed by contact with ferric oxide particles under acidic conditions to induce binding between the ferric oxide particles and nucleic acids (e.g., miRNAs) of the sample. In some cases, the ferric oxide particles are provided as part of a dissolvable film, which releases the ferric oxide particles upon solvation. In some embodiments, after nucleic acids bind to the ferric oxide particles, the particles are magnetically separated from the sample and are contacted with an alkaline elution buffer to release the nucleic acids.

Compositions comprising Fabaceae family plant components, processes of preparation and uses thereof

The present disclosure relates to processes for recovering valuable products from Fabaceae family plant fractions, in particular from Medicago sativa ssp. The processes disclosed herein include processes for obtaining macrofibers, microfibers, a saponin precursor, chloroplast liquid and dry compositions and a Rubisco precursor. There is also disclosed herein processes for extracting from Fabaceae family plants valuable compounds such as proteins, enzymes, peptides, amino acids, fatty acids, fatty alcohols, terpenes, phenols and pigments. The processes may comprise at least one of separating plant fibers while attenuating shear forces, maintaining the temperature at or below 45° C., maintaining the pH above 4 and adding antioxidant and/or antimicrobial agents. Compositions comprising these recovered Fabaceae family plant products and uses thereof are also disclosed.

Methods for enzymatic production of glucosamine salts and the purification methods thereof
20230167474 · 2023-06-01 ·

Disclosed in the present disclosure are methods for enzymatic production of glucosamine salts and the purification methods thereof, and belongs to the technical field of biological engineering. In the present disclosure, liquid containing N-acetylglucosamine is used as a raw material, subjected to hydrolysis with deacetylase to obtain glucosamine and acetic acid, and followed by elution on a cation exchange column with an acidic eluent and separation to obtain the glucosamine salt. Meanwhile, a by-product, namely sodium acetate, is recovered by anion exchange. The obtained glucosamine salt is subjected to concentration, crystallization, decolorization, and drying to obtain a high-purity glucosamine salt crystal. According to the present disclosure, processes for recycling of an enzyme, a residual substrate, and acetic acid are combined. Moreover, the loss rate of resin is low under operation conditions at room temperature, and the production of a hydrochloric acid waste liquid is extremely low.
